Starting a Masters program in Biomedical Engineering this winter and would like to find a room in a house or an apartment to share. Hope to arrive mid-December to get settled and explore the city a bit before classes and research start in January. Can start paying earlier if I need to to reserve the space. Ideally this would be for the length of the program (2-4 years), but if you have something available even just for the Spring term from a roommate studying abroad or graduating early, I'd be interested. Ideal roommates would be young professionals or other UBC grad students.
About me:
- 26 male from the eastern US. Most recently Lake Placid, NY, but most frequently Washington DC.
- I've been a 9-5 working professional for the last four years, so I'm definitely out of the partying/school phase of my life. I still know how to have fun, cause shennanigans at the pub, don't mind an occasional house party...just not a 24/7 partier anymore. Try to keep a clean apartment, be very respectful of my roommates, and generally use home as a place to relax and decompress from the workday, play music, have an interesting conversation, etc.
- Very into rock climbing, hiking, camping, road cycling, and pretty much any other outdoor sport or activity. Would definitely be cool if roommates happened to also make good running/climbing/tennis/etc partners.
- Love to play music. Have guitars, basses, and keyboard that you'd be welcome to share. So also cool if roommates happened to enjoy chilling with some instruments and having jam sessions from time to time.
- Vegetarian. Definitely don't mind if roommates are not, it's just my preference. Also a pretty good cook, so if you ARE vegetarian or at least enjoy vegetarian meals, you would probably benefit quite frequently from my home cooking. Also enjoy good beer and wine, so if you home brew or at least appreciate a good microbrew, we will definitely make good friends.
- Non-smoker (except an occasional hookah).
- HAVE A DOG! Clearly a big one for lease and allergy problems that might exist. Gibson is incredibly friendly to people and other animals, very quiet, crate trained, and a complete goofball. All about playing fetch and getting belly rubs. If you like animals, you'll definitely love him.
Ideal apartment/house:
- Full of musicians, artists, rock climbers, vegetarians and anyone with an adventurous spirit.
- Pet friendly! (Required)
- Fenced yard for dog, gardening etc would be great.
- Close to campus, or at least situated for a nice bike or bus ride that doesn't take more than 15 minutes. Loved Kits when I visited, but open to anywhere convenient for bus or bike to be able to take care of Gibson properly.
If you have a room opening up sometime in December, email me!
Cheers,
Chris
