Our mission: Design new and unique botanical products which enhance the way people experience and enjoy their lives; with a focus on developing products to treat conditions such as anxiety, depression, pain, and sleep difficulty. We search every corner and culture of the world to find unique plants which, in many cases, are barely known to the western world. That being said, intelligence and an ability to learn independently will compensate for experience.
Responsibilities
As the RESEARCH and NEW PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT MANAGER in our company your primary role will be the development of new CNS active product solutions. This will include:
• Operation of laboratory including responsibility for safety standards, SOP's, equipment purchasing, and managing lab technicians. Developing extraction, purification and standardization methods for active compounds.
• Formulation chemistry for capsules, powders, liquids (ready to drink beverages), teas, herbal smoking blends/tobacco alternatives and solid food products.
• Reverse engineering competitor products.
• Developing and overseeing Q/A and standardization protocols.
• Bench scale product prototype production.
• Modifying bench scale for scale up, and leading science related aspects for outsourcing scale up product manufacturing.
• Identifying, locating, selecting and managing external technology projects to efficiently overcome internal knowledge gaps.
• Responsible for reporting on and maintaining IRAP/ SRED/SBIR government funding commitments and initiatives.
• Understanding the needs for the sales and marketing team and contributing your views and opinions to product strategy.

Requirements
• A passion for chemistry, CNS active plants, and creating innovative products people use.
• A highly capable natural product chemist (PHD) with very strong skills in analytical chemistry, pharmacology and plant science. This includes knowing how to use all the tools.
• At least 2 years hands on HPLC experience and have used an HPLC in the past 6 months.
• A working knowledge of synthesis chemistry.
• Managed chemists in leadership position for a minimum of 5 years.
• Focus on the big picture but have no problems rolling up your sleeves and helping on wherever you are needed (including other departments).
• A highly intelligent and innovative problem solver and are also a team player capable of working with others and taking direction.
• Very comfortable with facts, figures, numbers, complex data analysis and are a highly logical thinker.
• Either running your own business, have done so, or have managed parts of a private or public business before; including managing budgets and the need to produce products which sell.
• A high degree of integrity and reliability to which multiple references can attest to.
• Autodidactic; you learn very quickly and independently and can become competent on a new subject faster than anyone you know.
• Highly computer literate and can use excel better than most people can work their toaster.

Compensation
Compensation for this position will be between $80,000 -- $110,000 per year including bonuses and incentives based on project outcomes and success according to established milestones and time lines.
