On behalf of our client Procom Consultants Group is on the look out for a Junior to Intermediate Infrastructure Specialist. Essentially, someone who can provide infrastructure incident support, restores system disruptions, and coordinates and complete the less complex Level 3 infrastructure change requests. The successful candidate will have a thorough knowledge and understanding of IT operations and processes and of applicable infrastructure deployments, Linux operating systems, web applications, shell scripting and interpreted development languages (Java). You will have a good understanding of best practices related to infrastructure configuration and maintenance, system administration and documentation. You have strong analytical, problem solving, organizational and time management skills. You have the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with technical teams and other co-workers, work to schedules, and adapt easily to changing priorities and business needs. You also have the ability to work on multiple projects in a team environment.
Mandatory Skills: -university degree in computer science (or equivalent)
- 1-3years relevant support experience in a large scale IT environment.
- Demonstrated experience with Linux server administration
- Experience with networking technologies (DNS, DHCP, iSCSI)
- Scripting experience (Perl, Python, Shell, VBScript, Jscript, Awk)
- Experience with enterprise class monitoring tools
- Demonstrated experience in system performance management techniques and performance-related system level tuning
- Demonstrated experience as a proponent of 'best practices' and a leader in continuous improvement activities
- Ability and motivation to learn new technologies quickly and with minimal support and guidance
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Experience in proactive problem management techniques and reporting
- Able to handle stressful situations with a level- headed approach and make extensive use of available resources
- Demonstrated organizational skills
- Experience and/or ability to support a 7/24 environment (on-call support)
Nice-to-Have Skills: -Understanding of the ITIL framework
- Linux Certifications from LPI, RedHat or SuSe
- UNIX administration (Solaris, AIX, HP-UX)
- Experience with NAS and/or SAN solutions
- Knowledge of Java and/or experience trouble shooting Java code
