one of us is a full time student in a rather demanding program, so we tend to seriousness during the school year, but when our schedules are not too heavy - oh, summah - we love having people over for long dinners or lingering drinks. we have a nicely furnished living room and a sweet little deck where we like to hang out. we love honest and lasting friendships, learning, our planet and its soil, our bikes, our second bikes, the bikes we don't have and would like to ride, and your bike probably too. we love italy in late autumn, serbia, coratia, many more places, food, mushroom hunting, books, thinking of making things, making things, finding things, building things, architecture and design, building science, sustainable building and planning, biodiversity, healthy soils, gardening and local farming, foraging in general, the mountains, the islands, a wide variety of music and film, watching futbol at caffe napoli... enough already.
the available room is located on the second floor; it is separated from another bedroom by a bathroom shared with the other person on that floor, and we have in-house laundry at that level - yippee! the main floor is shared space. so is a private garage beneath. there is no space in the garage for any kind of motorized vehicle whatsoever: it already houses a small studio for everyone's use, shelter from bad weather for our many pedal-powered bikes, and storage - of which you will have a section. if you need to use a car, there are several modo co-op cars in the neighbourhood. should you decide that you need to own a vehicle, there is parking on the street. other residents in the complex also rent out parking spaces in the underground common garage; we can connect you with them if need be.
the townhouse is a little over three years old. even on a rainy day, natural light floods in. it is fully furnished, well equipped, and feels rather luxurious: gas range, dishwasher, good size fridge, in suite laundry, ample windows. we're a block or so from trout lake and its farmer's market, a five minute bike ride to the drive, and close to several bike routes (a very easy ride to bcit). transit-wise, we are one block from bus route 20 which goes downtown direct, and equal walking distance from commercial and nanaimo skytrain stations (about ten minutes to either). it's about the same time to the broadway corridor express bus, and about four blocks from bus route 25 which links bcit and ubc, and goes by king edward station to the airport. paste this link in your browser to check out the location:

Unfortunately this is a pet-free home. Not my idea, sorry.
I smoke, but never inside, and never near open windows/doors. If the smell on me when I come in will be a problem I am happy to institute a one-hour rule where I don't smoke one hour before coming home - I've done it before with a flatmate who was allergic, so it's no trouble.
I'm omnivorous myself, but I rarely cook meat, so I'm happy to keep a meat-free home, although I do keep dairy and eggs. My dishes have also touched both meat and dairy in the past (or at least enough of them have that I can't vouch for any one in particular), and it's cheap Ikea stuff so it probably unkasherable. If you keep a Kosher kitchen your best bet is probably to keep your own full sets separate, sorry :(

The apartment is a 2 Minute walk to seawall, and very close to South Granville and 4th ave shopping, multiple bus lines including the 9,99, 10, 16 and 84. It's also a 2 minute bus ride to downtown, or a 15 minute walk over the bridge. Granville Island is a mere 7 minutes away as well...
Utilities come out to approx $40 a month for cable/internet, and approx $10-15 a month for Hydro
