The almost-genocide of the natives in North America alone account for more killings then from non-religious groups...and don't try and tell me that the settlers in N America were atheists...also the populations of the majority of the world have historically had religious affiliations so open your eyes and look at the obvious (atrocities have been committed by many men and most of them in the name of god....only because the majority of the world populace believe in religion)

The other thing I hate about religion is how it absolves you of self responsibility. Apparently, if you commit sins then all you have to do is ask for forgiveness (or do it in the name of your god). There is no such thing as being responsible for your actions.
