Just so we don't forget here is an article from 2002 reminding Campbell of his promise to not tear up contracts.

Labour Reminds Campbell Of His Pledge To Respect Contracts
January 9, 2002
Vancouver, B.C.
Thursday, January 10, 2002

The B.C. Federation of Labour today launched a province-wide advertising campaign in print and on radio to remind Premier Gordon Campbell of his pre-election pledge to respect existing collective agreements.

"The Liberal government's declared intention to tear up existing collective agreements tells business and community leaders that this government's word is worthless," said Federation Secretary-Treasurer Angela Schira. "What is negotiated one day may be legislated away the next. That will do untold long-term damage to our economy and to labour relations in this province."

Campbell told the Hospital Employees Union in November 2000 that "I don't believe in tearing up collective agreements," a reversal of his 1996 threat to roll back provisions of health and community social service agreements.

But several Cabinet Ministers, including Labour Minister Graham Bruce and Health Minister Colin Hansen, have threatened in recent weeks to roll back or eliminate the provisions of agreements covering more than 115,000 health and community social service to make it easier to cut, privatize and downsize health, education and community services.
