What is with all the "must be available for all shifts" crap?
There are many qualified candidates who would knock your socks off with the level of commitment and care they bring to their work, who also happen to have limited availability for very LEGITIMATE & NON-NEGOTIABLE reasons. However, most employers are demanding staff be ready to jump for any shift and are stopping many outstanding people from even applying for the jobs you have.
I really want to know what is so bloody difficult about scheduling an employee to regularly scheduled shifts, such as every Mon-Thurs, 9am-4pm?
Having a schedule that allows for routine in ones lives helps to create happier employees who are more likely to stick around for the long term as they are still able to consistently tend to the responsibilities of their personal lives. They also call in "sick" less often as they have the schedule that fits with their "real" life creating less scheduling disasters.
Think about it.
