Who Am I?

I'm in my 4th year of my studies at UBC, specializing in Electrical Engineering with a math minor. I have tutored over 15 students, and currently, am tutoring 5 other students.

Why Do I Tutor?

Firstly, I am very interested in the topics in which I have been studying. Moreover, I believe what helped me to get to this point was the dedicated teachers I had alongside the amount of time and effort I spent. Unfortunately, the education system never enhanced me to the fullest. I had to do extra-curricular work to enhance my abilities, and I owe this to my tutors.

What Method Do I Use?

It all depends on the person I am tutoring. What I usually do is that I spent time to evaluate the student and then try to come up with a reasonable plan. The plan will also be highly influenced by the needs and goals of the student.

Remember that the first hour of the first session is FREE, so you have nothing to lose! Just show up and we can set the price together.

I incorporate having fun and being creative with teaching proper theory and technique. Not only do I teach by the book and encourage classical music, I also teach my students their favorite pop songs and often break up the lesson with a fun educational music game or two!

VOICE
If you catch your child singing along to their favorite tunes then this could be the class for them! I teach kids about healthy singing, pitch, diction, breath support and projecting their voice. Solfege ear training is an option for the serious parent but we like to have fun singing their favorite pop songs as well. I have a range of kid songs for the very young. I am also open to group classes for the 3-6 age group.

THEORY
If your child is already taking music lessons and you want to broaden their skills, it is a good idea for your child to start learning more about theory. I have a great way of simplifying certain concepts that often confuse children and also making it more interactive and fun!

Hasselblad camera along with Carl Zeiss lenses are considered as one of the best ever designed system in the industry. Offering all manual true photographers experience with no battery power in the camera at all. I am talking about latest model still manufactured today Hasselblad 503CW which can use 5 different types of film magazines or various digital backs. Exposure is metered manually with external light meter and each photo can be state of the art if executed properly. 503CW camera takes 2 major film formats 120 and 220. . I am a professional photographer who is offering photography lessons for photographers at any skill level. These lessons are extremely useful if you are thinking of or just purchased your first DSLR - or you have had one for a while but to get the most out of it. As a first course, I provide a 10 hour package, where I teach you basics of technical, aesthetic, digital, film, landscapes and portraits,documentary and more. If you have cameras like Canon T1, T2, T2i, T3, T3i or Nikon D3100, D 5000, D 5100, D7000 or any other camera I will teach you the best possible camera handling, know all the settings you need for creative photography and produce professional level of results.

The 10 hours can be broken up over several days but I recommend at least a 3-5 hour session at a time, as 1-2 hours is too short for this kind of training. I can customize your lessons to your needs and interest as well. My own training includes a university education in art and photography as well as 11 years of experience. I also have 5 years of photography tutoring experience, and can provide references at your request. At the end of the 10 hours, you will have a good understanding of all the manual settings of your DSLR, so you know exactly what to do to get the best results out of your camera. My rates are $25/hour (if you have your own equipment), or 35$/per hour if you use my Professional equipment (camera and lenses). I highly recommend a package 250$ and 350$ respectively of 10 hours to cover the basics.

The location of instruction is Kitsilano Beach in Vancouver. I cannot travel to your home or other places in Lower Mainland, the quantity of students is simply not allowing me this. I currently shoot with the Canon 5D mark II. and have an assortment of Professional lenses so you can try them out before buying with the second package option. I can also help you with purchasing recommendations of equipment and lenses as I have gone through all the research and have the experience. I already had more than hundred of students and have experience with following cameras: Canon, Nikon, Olympus, Hasselblad, Bronica, Pentax, Sony, Minolta, Leica and Mamiya.
