My name is Jade and I am a career nanny. We are seeking a full-time nanny-share arrangement, in our neighbourhood (W 15th and Heather) for our lovely little boy who is almost 15 months old. He is very well-behaved, loves reading, pointing at exciting things, and chats up a storm - what he is actually saying is anyone's guess! So far he has enjoyed a very cozy, secure and stress-free existence, home with his mother for one year, and now cared for by his Grandmother who came from Ottawa to help out. He enjoys naps in his crib, eating porridge for breakfast, and homemade hot lunches served at the table (salmon, sweet potato and broccoli is a frequent favourite), flipping through his books and being read to (constantly), daily walks to the park, and getting all needs met. We were dreading the day we needed to drag him to a daycare but now realize that this is not even an option (hello, waitlists!). We have evaluated several homecare options but they seemed more like places where the children were 'warehoused' and would not be properly stimulated or cared for. In a perfect world, we would welcome a mary poppins kind of sassy, lover of children who would feed him, snuggle him, play with him, entertain him and teach him at our home, but we cannot afford the well-deserved cost of employing a nanny on our own. My husband works from 8-4:30 and I work from 9-5, Mondays through Fridays. If you are a nanny looking after one child or two older children in our area and are able to accomodate another, please contact us. If you are a family in the neighbourhood with one child of similar age, or two (older or one older) then please contact us if you would like to share a nanny and we can take it from there. We need something by April 1st when my mother MUST go back to Ottawa but are willing to start sooner to ease the transition. We are very concerned with safety (limit crossing busy streets, monitor the children closely, etc.), NO TV, healthy food, exercise, fresh air, and inspiring creativity. Our little one loves learning and we want him to have a friend to play with and a wonderful teacher to care for him while we are away.

About the Centre / Program

St. George's Daycare is a non-profit organization. We are a new centre that has many opportunities to expand. During these early stages of developing the centre the hours of the daycare are limited. As enrolment fills up the hours of operation will increase

The goal of St. George's Daycare is to provide a stimulating environment where children can develop physical, social, emotional, intellectual, and creative skills in a caring, loving, and home like atmosphere.
The child will be given many opportunities for physical development. The children will learn how to use their body effectively: climbing, sliding, and riding on toys. Large balls and use of outdoor playgrounds will help develop gross motor skills. Puzzles, finger painting, play dough, threading beads, using pencils, crayons and brushes will help their fine motor skills.
The program will enable the child to grow socially. They will learn to communicate with and respond to adults and other children outside his/her immediate family circle. They will learn to share, wait for their turn, to become self-reliant and to become considerate of others. The child will be encouraged to be responsible for his/her own belongings and to take their part in maintaining a tidy room.
The child will learn to recognize, accept and express feelings, learn to cope with frustration, express anger appropriately, give and receive attention. They will also be able to develop independence, and make decisions, develop awareness and respect for the feelings of others and continue developing a positive self-image which contributes to their emotional growth.
We will provide plenty opportunities for intellectual growth. Language skills are developed as the child communicates with one another and with the teachers. Re-telling stories, learning rhymes, songs and finger plays require concentration and a retentive memory. Listening skills are developed at story time. Concepts related to numbers, space and time are also developing through weekly theme's activities.
Creative development is also emphasized. The child is encouraged to use imagination and materials in a novel and many ways. The child also is encouraged to give more then one answer to a question and find more then one solution to a problem.

"Learning through play", philosophy will help the child to grow towards knowing themselves as well as the world around them.

We are a young professional family searching for a wonderful and caring nanny to take care of our sweet and fun daughters.

We live in the Kitsilano area and have two lovely daughters, ages 4 � and 9+ months (12 months in April). Our girls are happy, loving children who like to play and laugh. We are looking for an experienced nanny to take care of them 3 days a week for approximately 8 - 9 hours a day. Care is needed on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from about 7:30 - 4:30. Please note that our work hours - NOT days - are somewhat flexible, so we may be willing to adjust our schedule slightly for the perfect nanny. To clarify, we can be home a bit earlier on certain days if you want less hours. You can expect to work between 20 - 28 hours a week.

The required start date is March 26th 2012, but we would like to find someone as soon as possible. Our ideal situation would find a nanny who is willing to meet with us soon and be available now to care for our girls a couple of hours each week to develop your relationship (and give mom a break)!

You should be a caring, patient person who loves the company of children. Outdoor activities and trips to the park and library are expected, so you should like that too! Our eldest daughter is enrolled in various activities in the community, so you should be prepared to take the girls out at set times in all types of weather.

Infant first aid and ECE training is an asset and you should be fluent in English. We will provide food for the children, but basic food preparation skills will be needed. We also expect you to work with our children to help develop their manners and interpersonal skills. Please be prepared to submit references and criminal record check.

We are looking to arrange a nanny-share with another family and our seven-month old daughter starting in June 2012 (she will be 11 months in June). We live in the west end, but are willing to arrange a care situation that is somewhere in the west end, downtown or out as far at 33rd and Oak. We require care for 3 days a week (Tues, Thurs, Fri).
