More info
For sure the percentage of illegitimate postings must be high. So be careful when giving your personal information to a non-named company.
Maybe you can tease them with a very brief outline of your skills just in a letter format; use a pseudo-email address if you like; and ask them to identify themselves for further contact.
I reckon 8 or 9 times out of 10, you will not get a response; and possibly out of those 9 one may was a legitimate posting....
It is unfortunate for the companies that post legitimate opportunities but try to avoid candidates from contacting the company using this covert posting process.
Suggestion to those companies:
Get your IT person to set up a email specific to the hiring process i.e. hr@oursite.com or jobs@oursite.com (not a hotmail or gmail account). Clearly state any contact by phone, in person or any other email will automatically withdraw the candidate's resume.
Maybe like many other I do not forward my resume or info until I know the company. On occasion I will send out that brief letter of my skills when I feel I can really do the job....
Hope all employers and candidate find their match...
