The Arbutus Club, one of Western Canada’s finest private, family recreation centres is hiring part time Youth Leaders to work 2:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., 2-3 shifts per week from Monday through Friday with the possibility of picking up additional shifts.
The Youth Room is a frequent drop-in area for youth and families. Youth Leaders are responsible for monitoring all members who use the Youth Room, as well as ensuring the safety and cleanliness of the facility. The primary responsibility is to ensure the youth room is a fun environment by encouraging children to participate in games or activities and making sure that children follow our Youth Room policies and procedures. There is also the opportunity to assist with Special Events. This position is ideal for a college or university student studying youth work or recreation and who is seeking part time employment.
Experience working with children and teens in a recreational environment is required. We are seeking a responsible individual with good communication and problem solving skills who is self-motivated, organized and tidy. The successful applicant will be enthusiastic, creative with games and activities and will enjoy working with children and parents. Flexibility with hours is also an asset.
The pay rate for this position is $12.00 per hour. Applicants will be required to complete a criminal reference check.
