Statistics Canada estimates the direct cost of crime in Canada at 6.7* billion dollars annually. These figures do not take into account the additional costs associated with the crime when property has to be replaced or the theft causes other damages to business operations or essential infrastructure such as hydro or industrial facilities. These additional damages can create other safety and security hazards for citizens, employees and emergency response personnel. Each year, one in four Canadians is directly impacted by crime and all citizens share the cost. One way or another, property theft impacts everyone! Operation Hands Off is a coordinated theft prevention program that brings together many partners across a wide range of industries including insurance companies, crime prevention organizations and law enforcement agencies to combat the problem.

Why should I register my bike?
Many bikes are stolen for a ride and left to be found miles from where the original theft occurred. In some cases, bikes are stolen with the intent to resell the bike by moving it to another location or city. In some cases bikes are sold through online sites to avoid detection.
By registering your bike, you provide police with an essential tool to locate the owner 24/7 anywhere in the world. This allows quick identification and also ensures that found bikes can be returned quickly.
