Downtown (opening ceremonies, hockey, Olympic Village) is a quick 15 minute drive and Pacific Coliseum (figure skating, short track speed skating) is just 20 minutes away by car. You'll also enjoy easy access to Whistler, which is an uncomplicated 90-minute trip thanks to proximity to the Trans Canada #1 Upper Levels Highway.
The suite which comprises the entire ground level of our home, is situated on a private south-facing lot in the heart of Dundarave, West Vancouver - one of Canada's most desirable and exclusive locations. From here, it's an easy � block stroll to Dundarave Village, where you can enjoy breakfast and fresh baked goods at the Bakehouse, coffee at Delaneys or Starbucks, pick up supplies for dinner at the Italian deli, the fish market, the organic meat market or the Marketplace store, and then browse the local shops and art galleries. Don't want to cook? Dundarave waterfront offers fine dining at The Beach House, while the village boasts more casual atmosphere and fare at the Red Lion Pub. A number of other wonderful cafes serve sushi, Italian, seafood, and Vietnamese dishes .

We have 2 bedrooms with full private bathroom on the top floor of our house for rent during the two weeks of the Olympics -- February 12 to 28, 2010. One bedroom has a double bed; the other has a single bed with an extra mattress available to sleep a maximum of 4 people. The two bedrooms together rent for $1700/week or $3000 for the 16 days. We are a professional family who are bilingual (English, French) and experienced travellers.

Hope to get some feedback from Craigslisters and visitors for the Olympics

I'm wondering how much I should ask to rent out my place during the Olympics (either weekly or for the month).
My place is on Pacific near Drake St, on David Lam park (one of the Olympic media venues), facing the water (unobstructed see picture below taken from livingroom).
Location is optimal... 4 blocks walk to BC Stadium, or 1 block to the Yaletown Skytrain station, and backs on to the Yaletown restaurant/party district.

The specs
1650 sq/ft total (1250' inside + 400' of decks)
Fully furnished 2 bedroom, 2 queen sized beds. The usual - 52" flatscreen, large BBQ, 2 parking spots, 2 bathrooms... in building gym, pool, hot tub.

If someone could give me advice on what to rent it for, and any other Olympic rental advice, I'd appreciate it. Attaching a picture of the summer livingroom view... obviously it will be a little more snow covered. The park is being built into one of the main Olympic media venues, so it's pretty much perfect location.

We at RFTG have had 3 years of experience setting industry standards for Vacation Rentals in Vancouver and Whistler and specifically the 2010 Olympic Games.

First we've heard about houses being offered at 100K+, now we hear about 2 bedrooms renting out at less then regular winter season values...
As much as hype can cause prices to sky-rocket, we are now witnessing a (small) army of desperados trying to rent out their time-shares, condos and such at any price... literally!!
Some of the recent transactions that we have seen are amusing to say the least. It is a fact that prices have come down significantly due to the troubled world economy and the strength of the Canadian dollar. However, the recession is over, travel is re-bounding yet we see accommodations offered at silly prices. Its almost as if (even though we know its not true) the owners want to be be a "part" of the games, rather then capitalize on this opportunity help their mortgage.

We at RFTG think that it is-using stock terminology- a fake rally in supply. Our statistics indicate that the numbers of inquiries is increasing steadily and shows no sign of leveling off. This points to the possibility of an end-of the year SQUEEZE. Gossip of over-supply causes some owners to panic and sign contracts at ridiculous levels. This is not the case and certainly not in Whistler. We predict a painful squeeze in the 3rd and 4th week of December when the "smart" visitors will realize how different Vancouver and Whistler are from previous venues. It will be too late for some visitors- and certainly for those owners who signed away their places at laughable prices...

Cambie Village is just around the corner with many coffee shops and restaurants.
