About me? I'm a really laid back guy, easy to get along with and always fun to be around. Her basic message was this "When I was young, I dated an older guy and it was the most meaningful relationship of my life. He was there to protect me, he cared for me and about me, and open my eyes to the world. I'll never regret it or forget it, and wish it had lasted to this day."
That started me thinking, because men in today's society have come across a stigma that I really do not think is either understood, or appropriate. Basically ladies (and I will be the first guy to fully admit this) to a great deal of guys (the majority really) a girl in her late teens is exactly what they want, even as they age themselves. And guys have very real and solid reasons for this to, it is not just a case of "she is young and hot and I want to hit that." There is much much more.
This is what I think most women do not realize.
First off, it is not "sick" and it is definitely not pedophilia (defined as : Pedophilia (or Paedophilia) is the attraction of older individuals to pre-adolescents) but rather hebaphilia (Hebephilia is the attraction of older individuals to pubescent youths). that is key in understand this, the word "pubescent". Which means that a late teen girl in every sense of the physical word, is a woman. She has pubic hair and periods and breasts and can give birth, a woman, maybe not fully in mind, but in body... yes.
On a purely physical level, both men and women are attracted to beauty, and it is just plain true that an 18 year old girl say, will be more beautiful then the same girl at 28. So that explains the physical attraction, but it isn't that alone.
The reason why so many guys find younger women attractive is they have not gotten cynical, selfish, disillusioned, or cold. They still believe in "true love", believe that they life they have ahead of them will not be mundane and boring, and radiate that belief in everything they do. Being around an attractive late teen girl is not only refreshing (and I mean just being around with them and not in a relationship), it is uplifting. They have spirit and joy with them still, and it seeps into you as an older guy. Basically, they make you feel young again, which is a good thing.
The girl on the other hand also has a much different experience with an older man. She is not with an inexperienced, hormone raging, 19 year old boy who knows nothing of life, love, or commitment. A boy who will get her pregnant and leave her in the dust, or does not know who to really treat a lady. An older man will buy her gifts, tell her and show her he appreciates her in ways that a teen boy never could. Simply put, older guys are better lovers, and better at relationships.
Now, before I go on I would like to point out that the legal age of consent in Canada is 16. 16 okay. It's law. And the reasons behind that "age limit" which does seem a bit low when you think about it in a legal sense (you vote at 18 etc) are not what one might think.
It has nothing to do with morality, that shift was an after effect, but with advances in medical technology really. No less then about 70 years ago and before, May / December romances were the norm, the norm, understand that. And the reason why eligible men seeking a wife sought after late teen or young adult (whatever you want to call them) women is because before modern medicine, the odds were very great that an older woman, of say 25 or up, would die in childbirth. The last thing men or humanity wanted back then was for mothers (and the unborn babies in most cases) to die on them. Youth was sought after for it's health, pure and simple.
There is a saying that "necessity is the mother of invention". Well it is the mother of morality too, that example is the best indicator of that.
So, due to changes in medical technology, our morality changed as well. The need to seek youth for a stable family and healthy children was removed, so seeking out youth became "immoral" though for thousand and thousands of years it was not only "moral" but common.
Understanding all that, this is the bind I am in and why I would appreciate honest and non judgmental feedback. I am in my early thirties, and I find that I am not only attracted to late teen women or those in their early twenties, but mostly (and for obvious reasons as stated) I am. And I also happen to be fairly good looking, and a decent guy, and have countless times in my life been shown interest by a women of this age group, over and over again infact. Everytime I have denied this opportunity when it arose, saying to myself "I should go for someone my age", because that was what was expected of me by the society I live in.
But I don't want to. I am at the age now where marriage is a oncoming ideal for me, and if I am to find a "suitable partner" yes I want to be married to a youthful, joyful, women that will rely on me, depend on me, and look to me for comfort. That makes me feel like a man. I do not want to manipulate or hurt the women I would see as my "ideal partner", rather I want to provide her with a good life and a loving husband. I want what I dream of, and want her to dream of a guy like I am (which a lot of younger girls do for obvious reasons, not some creepy old man, but a man rather then a boy) as well. And to build a real and lasting relationship with her.
So why is any of this "wrong"? And why do (women mainly) see this as "wrong"?
It is not like (just as someone who was gay for example) I can choose to be attracted to only women my age (and there are many many women my age that on a physical level I find very gorgeous), or I can choose not to be attracted to younger women. So why the scorn? Why the interference?
I definitely do not see myself as a monster, and for thousand and thousands of years no one else in society would of seen me that way either.
What is so hard to understand about the fact that a lot of guys seek a relationship where their role is as protector and teacher, and as someone who out of love, forges a life with another who's life is just on the verge of really beginning?
Are older women just jealous (really part of me thinks this is the base of it), because by their age they have had a few kids, had a bad relationship and the baggage that comes with it, have lost their looks mainly and their figure?
I want to hear the girl's side of this, older girls side, because for the life of me, when you consider all things and reasons behind May / December romances, I really fail to see where your moral stand is?
I am not saying I am "right", but I am saying that I do not feel "wrong" in anyway. Thanks for reading.
Alright women of Vancouver we are five young women who are trying to help a friend of ours out. He is a single male who is looking to meet women for friends and not a relationship at this time. Let us repeat this again not for dating, strictly plutonic, however should you seek to take it beyond that that’s between you and him. The problem is that all of his friends are in relationships and he is always the odd man out. Though he does respect us being lovey dovey with our partners he has a breaking point and we think we crossed it already. To make matters worse is that it is the seasons of couples (Winter and Spring). They are fast approaching and we don’t want to leave a good friend bored alone since we truly value him. In fact all of us owe him for helping us meet our partners , from giving the other side of reason in arguments to even providing and introduction, he’s always been there for us.
So with always being there for us by being a shoulder to cry on, a guy to snuggle up with watching a chick click or just making us smile when needed most, he deserves not to have another awkward couples season. Last year was bad since he’s always invited to parties only to learn he’s the only single person there. We know he’s frustrated trying to meet people and we have tried introducing him to our friends. Problem is every single one that has been introduced to him somehow finds themselves in a relationship within six weeks of meeting him, which only compounds the problem. It’s not that he’s driving our friends to seek a relationship but they all say that he has helped them really define what it is they are seeking in a partner just by spending some time with him. So we (five of us) are thinking outside the norm and we think we can pull this off.
Last time we tried this it was an open invitation to meet him at a coffee shop and all that was needed to get things started was to say a certain opening line, nothing dirty or risky but it was simple enough to approach him with ease. So for three hours he sat there by himself and we noticed 25 women come check him out and debate. Not a single one of them said so much as hello. Though he said “Well at least I was able to finish off a book,” we knew he was feeling rejected inside and he was trying to find the silver lining. We see tons of postings of people looking to meet new people, but he on the other hand isn’t fond of the whole online thing. As he learned there are just too many people who are full of it online and sadly we agree. However we have some hope that there are some of you out there who are not full of it and are reading this.
About him, here is some things that should make him worth checking out at least. He’s a rare guy and frankly some of us see him as a role model for men to follow.
-Let’s make this perfectly clear again, he is not looking for a romantic relationship, just friends. If you would like to take it beyond that, just talk to him about it, open communication will work in your favor for him.
-He is not prince charming, despite having the habits of one, he does not have a chariot to lead you away to his castle. He’s more rough around the edges and prefers transit to driving as part of his stress free lifestyle. As him about it and he will gladly explain it to you.
-He does not watch sports, at best it’s the olympics. We all know he’d rather spend the time getting to know someone or with an old friend. Also he has a habit of cooking when coming over which is particularly rare for a 25 year old male. He’s never there for the team unless he is actually on the team, so be aware he does play a lot of sports depending on the time of the year.
-He has the most open mind we have ever met. No topic is off limits to him and should he not know about something he has always been honest and admit it. Yes he can not only admit when he does not know something but also when he is wrong, which we think are trademarks of a rare man.
-His background though genetically mixed is also shaped by the events, people and cultures of his life. You can’t stereotype him at all. As he says just put him in the category of ‘other’ and leave him there.
-He is always looking for someone to join him at or introduce him to festivals. This in part because of our partners being a bit concerned about loosing us to him and we apparently always in couple mode (according to him). If there is music, food and good company he is happy . We have tried helping him meet people by going with him to the chocolate festival and it’s many events in mid October, however even with all the women he men and those he even gave his number to not a single one has called him.
-He doesn’t care about your background in any aspect, he is much more interested about the person as a whole. So if you’ve got piercing, tattoos and/or are a smoker he doesn’t care. To him it’s just part of who you are and it adds to the it’s part of how you express yourself to the world.
-He however always appears out of place but blends in at the same time, he takes care of himself and sadly and ironically gets hit on by far more guys than women. Somehow he is attracting the side he’s not interested in and the men approaching him are not interested in being his friend as so much as getting to know him sexually. It’s kinda fun to watch since he now has learned how to handle this very well with humor.
-Expect Repartee, wit, humor and always seeking the good in everything. It’s his way of poking fun at the world while keeping his sanity which he believes also makes him a better person.
-Outside of all of this we really can’t describe him because there is just something about him we can’t put our finger on, but we know it’s part of who he is.
How this will go down:
-First of all there will be one additional re-posts to get as big heads up as possible over this week and a half prior to the date we have managed to get him to agree to.
-There is a bet on this between the five of us and him. Sadly his realist side has betted against the women of Vancouver and expecting less than five to approach him and double down if nobody approaches him. The bet for us is we buy him 5 dinners and with him it’s ten batches of his homemade desserts. His short bread and chocolate combinations are scary good and are often eaten first at any place he brings a batch.
-All you need to say when approaching him is “ A friend named Crane said to drop by.” Plain and simple and he will know this is part of our doing.
-If you cannot make this day and time, please email us if you are interested. If there is enough interest we might be able to pull a second invitation, but no promises since just getting this 2nd attempt was hard enough given the failure of the first attempt. If he says no, we will forward your emails, but it’s up to him if he wants to respond to you.
-If it’s sunny he will be wearing a distinctive pair of sunglasses that has a single red lens on a black frame. If it’s expected to be raining we will tell you what he will be wearing. Even so, we’ll ask him to wear the sunglasses like a tiara
He will be found on Commercial Drive and 4th in Prado from 2:30 - 5pm. He may stay longer, but that’s up to him, we however will be watching from a far and not at this coffee shop. Also he will have a book on the table entitled “Common Wealth economics for a crowded planet” by Jeffrey D. Sachs.

Why do you ask? Because
A. I've been a Nanny for the last half a year and it's not really a job you meet people through
and B. Because I'm not a huge party girl. I'm more of a casual drink, watch a movie at home, paint nails and talk kind of girl... and it's really hard to find other people like that because they are at home drinking, watching movies, and painting their nails.
