We're both 20; I (the guy) am a comp-sci major (and/or writer) currently studying at Langara, and have been living out for three years, while she is an artist/illustrator studying design at Emily Carr, and is just moving away from her parents.
We're very friendly, open, and laid-back, kind of silly, but very responsible, and we're looking for a big place that has some (not just one or two!) built-in friends (that is, roommates in their early-/mid-20s) who'd like to get to know us :) Other students are preferred. We don't smoke or drink or really do much partying; we're more the dorky type, who would play RISK together or mock horrible movies we're watching :)
We're looking for a single, larger room, or a split between a room to make into a workspace and one to make into a bedroom. Furnishings don't matter (Craigslist also has a section with free beds and such, you know.)
We'd also like to keep two pets--ferrets--though it's just a thought at this point (we don't have them yet.) They can mostly stay in a cage, and we'd always be watching them while they're out (and they don't have to leave the room if you'd rather they don't.)
We'd like a place with a good shared kitchen in which to actually cook and/or bake things (we each are good at one of those two, and pretty much suck at the other.) Storage space somewhere in the house (it doesn't have to be convenient) would be an asset, although not strictly necessary. We don't have a single car between us, so we don't need a parking space, just a nearby bus stop :) It'd also be nice if we had our own bathroom, but again, not much of a problem if it's shared.
We're mostly looking for a more communal environment, where when you're making dinner (or ordering pizza) it's not just for you (but obviously you're not the only one paying for it, either.) This means we'll likely have to mesh really well to make sure we don't get on one another's nerves, but we wouldn't mind a grueling all-day interview to figure that out :)

Speaking of food...I love cooking and baking! (I think I'll be baking a lot second semester). Baking (cookies, muffins, breads) is one of the ways I relieve myself of stress. I eat mostly vegetarian...meat is so expensive and it rarely sits well on my stomach. I sometimes crave the occasional hamburger. I also enjoy going to the gym, biking, running, hiking, etc. School-wise, I like nerding out to the periodic table (I memorized from hydrogen to radon. I know, I'm pretty cool).
