We have a strata title RV lot in Harrison Mills, in a lovely gated community with an indoor pool in the club house. Strata fees are $84 per month, and the park is very close to the Sandpiper golf course. The lot value is in the $60,000 to $70,000 range. If someone was to put a 5th wheel on the lot, you’d have a great rental property. We would consider taking $45,000 cash plus something like a boat or vehicle with a value around $15,000 on trade.

Company "Holiday Luncheon" (P.C. gone beserk)
Our annual Company Xmas Lunch was scheduled for early December. The usual E-Mail comes around. This year the company called it the "HOLIDAY LUNCHEON" as opposed to the expected CHRISTMAS LUNCHEON that we have had for decades. I politely sent back an E-mail declining to attend , as I will be attending the XMAS LUNCHEON whenever it is scheduled. I received another E-mail that this IS the WINTER HOLIDAY LUNCHEON. Several of my co-workers and I sent a signed petition to our H.R. department declaring that we would NOT attend unless it was called the CHRISTMAS LUNCHEON .
The manager gets us together last week and advises that the Head Office ( A U.S. based company ) has ordered all branches to refer to ANY Christmas activities as the "More Politically Correct" HOLIDAY function as they now have TWO, count them TWO MUSLIM employees at their head office and they have complained that it "OFFENDS THEM". We had a heated discussion regarding the ludicrous denial of a Christian Holiday, called CHRISTMAS. We are a union company and we pointed out to the H.R. manager that our agreement has a specified holiday known as "CHRISTMAS".
I guess the bottom line is that two Muslim employees ,working at the head office in South Carolina, have more say in our Traditions than we do. The company employs over 1500 people in three Provinces, not to mention the 2,000 plus in the U.S. based branches. We have now been over run and out numbered by TWO MUSLIMS.
I , and several other employees have decided enough is enough, we will NOT attend the" HOLIDAY LUNCHEON", and will now have our own seperate XMAS LUNCH. We sent the head office a plain english letter detailing our disappointment in their decision to bow down to the religious beliefs of TWO people and demoralize the other 3500 Plus employees.
Are we making too much of this incident.? I think not.
and the nice thing about it is , there are ppl on here that have the same hates fears angers, and who understand, and are trying to get things out as well ...
racism, sexism, antisocial feelings, beefs with the transit system, policeforce, firemen, crooks, violent men, hurtful women, .... this is the place to let it out ANNONOMOUSLY (does it matter?) ... the point is that you, and me, start to confront those things inside of us that make us UNHAPPY, and start to DEAL WITH THEM, ... out in the open without fear of being NAMED...

The paramedics find themselves and their union participating in a change of direction for the province of BC. We are reducing our reliance upon intractable, over paid entrenched unionize labour to deliver services that we need at a cost that we can afford. So yes, let us dismiss with 'conspiracy theories', the Government plans to privatize the Bc Ambulance Service, and all this labour action merely confirms with the public the need to take this action sooner rather than later. (Disrupting the Olympics will garner you support from those groups that you already appeal to like the homeless organisations in East Van, union leaders that have already lost their battles like the construction sector, and teachers who routinely hold parents hostage while ignoring the declining enrolment numbers which will reduce their own opportunities) Reasonable, hard working and over taxed people that voted in the refurendum to bring the Olympics to the City of which they are rightfully proudhave no patience for acts of vandalism during the Olympics -- and please keep your free speech prattling to yourself. There are widely recognized limits of good taste over which you lose public support rather than gain an audience for your message.
So now that we have established that the paramedics will lose benefits, as they will no longer be eligible to participate in Superannuation pension -- research who is eligibile. it is not that we do not value the service but rather we do not value your time as much as you do, and the marketplace will price it accordingly.
As for some of the specific complaints that you highlight:

(There are allot of people communting up to two hours each day to work that would appreciate that compensation but they do not have the public purse, and union officials to tell them that they are entitled to it, to get such an outrageous compensation -- paid to get to work. is ridiculas!
you limit the use of part -timers that creates the need for overtime, instead hire and use part timers to fill those hours. a cheaper and more felxible alternative. Your problem is solved -- no over time 'forced on you' -- and costs are reduced.
You start running into burning buildings, or needing a gun to do your job than we will discuss parity issues
here will be no multi-year contract, note we have already said that we are privatizing the Service and would not want to impose a long term contract onto the new company.
improve training? make it a requirement that all paramedics pass a written and practical test every two years like other professions, and maybe throw in an old fashioned fitness test. Say 7 km in 30 minutes for a run?
Now the whole matter of "but they got a raise refering to the MLA's. Why not throw in the Doctors, etc. And the other unions that got signing bonuses that you were eligible for but lost with this silly job action that the Union leaders reccommended. If you would have taken the deal at the beginning of the year, you would have got a raise, a bonus and things would have been nice and smooth.
So now we can get to the end of this discussion. The Service will be privatized. Some will quit but not as many you may claim. More will join the ranks because of a 10 plus percent unemployement and the relatively short training period required -- and despite the whining that we have heard $29 per hour is an attractive rate of pay to many people.
And there is not a damn thing that will prevent it. The fat union pigs can protest, rant on Cl, hold press conferances, etc but it will not counteract that the majority of people don't believe that you are that hard done by, are over taxed, and unsympathetic to your claims.

-even better donate your time and volunteer
-offer an elderly person some help with their groceries?
