Friendship Without Borders !
The Host Program aims to assist immigrants and refugees successfully integrate into Canadian society through the assistance of volunteers, who provide friendship and support in the settlement and adaptation of newcomers to Canada.
Host volunteers are matched with individuals and families who have various skills and backgrounds. Together they plan creative activities where they can:
• Practice English
• Meet other people
• Experience new adventures
• Learn about community resources and services
Host volunteers commit to meeting with a newcomer or newcomer family for 2-3 hours per week for a six month period. Program volunteers are provided with orientation, initial and ongoing training and support by the program coordinators.
The Host Program provides opportunities for positive interactions, cross-cultural awareness and creating Friendship without Borders! The program is considered to be one of the best educational tools to promote multicultural understanding. You can contribute to your community and add strength to your personal and professional skills!
