Re: Teachers (British Columbia)

I've taken the liberty of cutting and pasting your post, in order to more successfully debunk the myriad myths and correct the countless errors it contains.

You write:
Why are teachers paid the high income they receive, when they do not work the same number of days other workers do? Let's face it, teaching is just another job. It's a job that was of each individuals personal choosing. In other words, everyone has a choice to take up whatever trade or profession one chooses in life. Somehow, teachers have tried to con us that their job is so much more stressfull than others, and therefore, they need all these "Professional" days off in addition to all the Stat holidays and a summer vacation that exceeds anything other workers receive. And for this, they demand an exhorbitant salary.

1) Teachers don't really receive that high an income. After teaching for 10 years, with a Master's degree (earned by taking courses at night while still continuing to work full time) a teacher in BC earns around $80,000 a year. In other words, after a cumulative total of 6 years post-secondary education and 10 years work experience, teachers earn $80k a year. A beginning teacher, after 5 years post secondary education, makes half that. What do you suppose beginning lawyers, accountants and other professionals make?

2) What makes teaching stressful is that there increasing demand on teachers to do more with less. Integrate technology into each classroom? Absolutely! Tell the government that each teacher and each classroom needs an Internet connection, an LED projector, and a white board, AS DOES EVERY CLASSROOM IN THE UK AND IN MOST OF THE EU COUNTRIES. Eliminate restrictions about how many special needs children can be placed in any one classroom? Certainly! Just make sure the government to fund more Special Education Assistants so that those kids can be adequately aided to meet their Individualised Education Plan goals, and the classroom teacher is not responsible for modifying EVERY piece of material to meet the needs of EVERY student.

3) Professional Days are NOT days off!
EVERY teacher in the province gets exactly FIVE paid training days per year to ensure that their professional learning needs get met so that they can stay up to date with the latest educational research (which often translates into "We are completely changing the focus of the way you teach Math (or Language Arts, or Science) so we're changing the textbook again! You'll get to spend the morning reading through it with your grade group colleagues (ie the other teachers) and you'll be expected to master the material over your (UNPAID!!!) summer vacation so that you can teach it in the next semester".

4) Ah...my favourite myth! The extended summer vacation that teachers enjoy. I remember how much fun it was, growing up, while my father went to summer school so that he could improve his teaching credentials (and thus his take home pay). The single salary my mom made as a nurse kept our family of four going, thanks to lots of scrimping. Until a few years ago, the only way to be paid year 'round for a teacher was to request that your district clawed back 17% of your salary from every check during the school year. Your district then pays you two lump sums in the middle of the summer. (They keep all the interest they earn on your money, though, because they're doing you such a great favour and it costs so much to administer this program.

You continue:
I say, pay them an hourly rate similar to other good trades people and have them work a 40 hour week and shift work as others do. There are so many new teachers graduating from University there should be no need for overtime. As well, I suggest all schools be operated on a 3-shift 24hr day, 7 days a week basis, in order to allow those who wish to spend less time in the education system to get on with their life much sooner.

5) TEACHERS. ARE. NOT. TRADESPEOPLE.

OVERTIME???? What overtime??? Teachers are salaried professionals.

6) Who do you suppose will staff these 24/7 schools?

I myself left school at 14 years of age. I spent 52 years in the work force, and have been retired this past 15 years. Educated in UK during the war, I believe I received a good basic education that, over the years, I have supplemented with various college courses however, I never attended University other than to take in seminars - of which there were a great many. This education allowed me to work in mechanical engineering jobs in which I did earn an excellent salary.

7) So....14 + 52 +15 = 77 by my calculations. You're 77 years old then? WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU SPENT ANY PERIOD OF TIME IN AN ELEMENTARY OR SECONDARY SCHOOL IN THIS PROVINCE?? My guess is.....never. You've not seen a classroom made up of more than 90% ESL learners who NEVER speak English outside the classroom environment, plus a few who live in such abject poverty that their parents are unable to afford their school supplies. You've never seen a child who had to whisper in a teacher's ear "My parents can't afford for me to go on that field trip". You've probably also never seen an autistic student in a regular classroom who attends school for the full day but only gets funded for 2.5 hours of SEA time a day, leaving the classroom teacher responsible for making sure that student doesn't injure themselves or another student (while still having to teach a Language Arts lesson that has 6 different modified assignments to ensure that each learners' chances of meeting the Prescribed Learning Outcome of the day. THAT is the reality in many BC classrooms.

You write:
Most will agree, learning is a lifetime thing because you can never know too much. And, that is why I believe schools should be available 24/7 - and free of charge to all who would take advantage and make good use of the knowledge made available to them.

8) EVERY teacher believes in lifelong learning. That's why they become teachers: to help students reach their potential to be lifelong learners! NOT to generate data about their students' performance in relation to normative standards. Teachers want students to master skills that make them better learners. In order to do that, they need smaller classes and more support for students with special learning or physical needs.

Strangely, at my advanced age, I have an excellent grasp of the English language and the ability to write well, with reader comprehension. My spelling is also very good and I have no need to use a dictionary in order to write. I do occasionally create typo's but then I'm a 'late bloomer' when it comes to typing.

9) I'd rate your composition and style skills as 'Within Expectations' on a report card. In order to meet the criteria for Excellent (or Exceeds Expectations) in writing, a student in BC really needs to be able to say something new, in a unique voice, that stirs a strong reaction in readers. While you certainly did stir a reaction, you did so using some very unimaginable language and oversimplifications. You also failed to do any research at all about your topic, which enables me to pick your arguments apart like they were made using toothpicks and white glue.

Like my computer skills, I am self taught. I use the good old two finger S&P metheod but find I can type almost as fast as my grand-daughter who has received training.

10) Who taught your computer skills? The correct syntax for that sentence would be "Like my computer skills, my typing skills were learned on my own."; you could also say "As with my computer skills, my computer skills were self-taught." The sentence as written makes little sense, though one can derive the intended meaning by reading carefully. Therefore, I'd have to rate your command of grammar at "Approaching Expectations".

10 a) Where did your granddaughter receive said training? In a public elementary school? Why don't you ask her about the realities of her classroom? Better still...why don't you ask her teacher??

You've undoubtedly surmised by now that I am a teacher by training. What prepared me to critique your letter was the 22 years I spent in a 5th grade classroom. That's about where I'd place your ability to support a well-reasoned argument and write a personal opinion essay. I'd score it at 2.5 out of 4; that's what translates roughly to a C+. Keep trying; I'm sure you'll do better next time!
this firm has asked a question in regards to how many completely innocent persons have been charged due to the police themselves not knowing how to use these devices properly. there are many procedures that define "proper use" of these devices. not just sticking the tube in someone's mouth and giving a breath sample.

this article also demonstrates how humans generally lie and cover up to save oneself. even knowing that they themselves have handed out stiff penalties to persons, the port moody police have done nothing to admit they have obviously made an error.
the article is titled "Port Moody ASD Update"

I'm having a bit of a laugh here reading what people are saying about Unions. One individual was kind of bragging that he enjoyed a 5 day, 40 hour work-week thanks to Unions. Kind of a half assed smirk at getting something without paying for it you might say. Well, that's exactly what I would expect from a cheapskate - let someone else fight for my benefits - type of attitude. But I guess the world is full of people like you who only take from others efforts.

Sooner or later, world trade is going to reduce you to being a pauper and we'll see if you still think Unions are not a necessity when dealing with big corporations. Do you really believe you could negotiate a fair wage for yourself with a big corporation? To start with, corporations are better off dealing with Unions when negotiating contracts for multiple levels of pay scale. It allows them to settle contracts far quicker than individual dealings.

Or, to make it easier for you to understand, prior to lock-out, employees made average $35/hr. CAT offered $17.50/hr. - and this to a team of experienced, well trained workers.

As for your comment that Auto workers received $80/hr. - - - B.S. who ever told you that is full of crap. And while you are blaming "Unions have strongarmed companies into stupid pay rates" - - - let me tell you this. Nobody, but nobody strongarms G.M. - - - The union workers only received hourly wage amounts agreed to during contract negotiations with the G.M. management team. If you truly believe they were "stupid pay rates" then blame the management team who BTW ALWAYS have corporate lawyer on board for negotiations. Finally, G.M. would NEVER pay more than it would agree to.

So take some time, learn a little about unions and Corporate management before you spout off about Union workers . . . BTW, I was in management with G.M. although, NOT part of any negotiating team responsibility. Furthermore, management salaries increased proportionate to hourly wages, although we had seperate and individual contracts for management employees.
Don't you remember the bailout packages for GM and Chrysler employees. They had to take cuts in pay from approx. $80++ per hour!!
Unions have strongarmed companies into stupid pay rates. I'll bet those CAT employees were being paid at least whet the autoworkers were getting from GM. In fact I saw the news and the people protesting were CAW union guys. Time to wake up and realize that a paramedic in BC gets $25 per hour. If CAT gave them the option of keeping their jobs for $25-30 per hour, they should have taken it.
I'll admit it was a bit lengthy because I wanted to provide as much "inside" information as I had available to me. - I well understand how you may have no interest what-so-ever but, there are some who are interested therefore, I have no intention of apologising. - As I said, just pass on by if of no interest to you.

YOU may not care about grammar or punctuation, but many of us do care. It's grammar and punctuation that makes a post readable. Whenever I see a post that lacks same, I simply pass because it is awful tough to read. - Furthermore, why should I, or anyone for that matter, be subjected to the job of rethinking whatever some lazy individual attemted to convey in the messsage? A post lacking grammar or punctuation is usually meaningless.

I once had Eastlink cable (comparable to Shaw but in Delta) and switched to Optik last year. To be honest it is a bit of smoke and mirrors to have you initially sign up and their billing is absolutely atrocious, but in the end I am still pleased with my switch. I am paying about $145/mo now (no more special deals/discounts) as opposed to $160 before, and I have more channels, especially the HD ones. I also like how I am able to set the PVR from my phone, which is a very big plus to me. Overall, the picture quality does seem pixelated if you sit close to the screen on some channels, but not enough to notice on a regular basis. I also have the bundle with the internet and their internet is very reliable and fast.

Progress Rail a subsidiary of CAT (London ON.)

Maybe those of you who are not aware of what is taking place in London ON. need some background information. Generally what we are talking about is the wholesale transfer of manufacting from Canada to the USA. -

The plant in question was a subsidiary of General Motors untill a few years ago. GM deided to divest themselves of all manufacturing unrelated to automotive. That particular plant was known as Diesel Division, General Motors of Canada Limited. It's primary product was Diesel Rail Locomotives.

Given the availability of good assemblers, they later expanded to build city type buses, many of which are still in service. BC Hydro was a good customer as well as just about every Canadian town or city that had a public bus service.

Further expansion saw the production of TEREX Front-end Loaders, as well as Rigid frame, mech.drive haulers (mining trucks) to a maximum 85 ton payload. - Further expansion in the mining industry demanded even bigger trucks and the Diesel Electric truck was born. Powered with large GM diesel engines that drove a generator, providing electrical power to the locomotive type traction-motors for each rear wheel. These were classified as 150 ton trucks. - This plant, having the locomotive manufacturing within its walls, was rather unique. The workforce was highly skilled and highly motivated too. - It was decided to build a 300 ton truck - the biggest in the world at the time of construction. It was a ntural to use locomotive style power and drive motors. - A mainline locomotive engine and generator, front and rear wheel steering with a box wide enough in which to park a pair of GM buses side by side. - That mammoth truck, having exceeded its service life, can now be seen as a tourist attraction, just off the side of the road in Sparwood, BC.

At the time of completion of that project, GM Diesel acquired the licence to build a european designed military fighting machine. a Light Armoured Vehicle (LAVs) for world military markets, starting with an order of 491 6x6 Grizzly, Cougar and Husky vehicles for the Canadian armed forces. These vehicles became well known in the military services and the US Marines became their first international customer with an order of 759 8x8 vehicles.

So you see, Diesel Division was a very vibrant operation so it is sad to see such a great manufacturing plant fade from Canadian operation. I want to say, each and every one of these product lines have since been repatriated to the USA, even though the products were ALWAYS determined to be superior to those built in tyhe U.S. - Take for instance the TEREX product line. Identical machines were built both in London and in Ohio and yet, US customers would specify Canadian built when they were buying a machine, such was the level of quality.

Basically what we are witnessing is the loss (theft) of any and all manufacturing from Canada, particularly if the parent company is American. They are stealing our jobs people. I'm waiting to see the car manufacturers do likewise. Ther are no longer any heavy highway trucks built or assembled in Canada, because they too have been repatriated to the USA.

We have so many talented people in this country, we could and should, develop Canadian products of this nature and compete with the USA. I know we would take them to the cleaners on quality, and delivery. So what if we are only 1/10th the population size? Quality will always win over anything else. What we need is a government who will tell Progress Rail, no locomotives will be purchased for use in Canada unless they are built in Canada. That is the biggest club we have in our arsenal.

Ok, rant over for now. Wake up Canada, or very soon, there will be no decent jobs left for anyone.

CAT is anti union and anti Canadian too. We should all quit using their products and services. There are lots of other good products out there equally as good.

I'm not a union guy but, I recognise few hourly paid workers would enjoy the income they have today were it not for the Union.

I can see in the near future whereby people are going to wake up to this fact and Unions will enjoy a renaissance. No employer pays his/her employees MORE than they are obliged to, and they arrive at this figure by comparison to other businesses of a similar type. I guess we are going to slip back for a while into the old days when employers physically abused their employees. Only then will people wake up to the fact they MUST band together in order to obtain fair wages and that means a LIVING wage, not one that requires a person to work at more than one job in order to pay the bills.

This company - Progress Rail - received a huge amount of money just a short while back from our PM Stephen Harper - possibly half a billion? (sorry, I don't have the figure available to me) - If they are packing it in and leaving for the USA, they should be made to repay the sum of money they received to keep the business in London.
Write your MP's and tell them exactly what a bunch of thieves this corporation is. Demand restitution for Canadian taxpayers.

I would support the union in occupying the plant there.

I can't recall exactly when the government started with this tax, maybe when they first brought in GST??? how long has it been in existence??? They never used to charge tax on used vehicles but you know what they say about politicians and taxes . . .

Best thing to do if you can afford to is, buy a decent luxury car about three years old with very little mileage on it. Take great care of it, and drive it for about 5 years . . . By now, the car has dropped to a pretty low market value . . . then, donate it to a family member . . . for $1 to make it a legal transaction . . . There's no tax on gifted vehicles.

I've done this for a great many years now. However, don't try to cheat on this system because they have ways of finding out if you do, and then you're in deep sh-t if you've tried to take advantage of it. Personaly, I don't believe they should tax a used vehicle . . . If we had any balls we'd revolt against such repeated taxation . . . My way is the only way I can win . . . and so do my off-spring and grand children . . . Think about it . . . everybody wins but the government.

@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

Why do we have taxes on used vehicles?I just bought a used car recently. The 1st owner paid tax on it when it was new 7 years ago (2004 model) and the 2nd owner and now I'm paying tax on it again. The same car like every other car will be taxed each time it changes hands. Perhaps there should be a declining tax rate since most car have a depreciating value anyways.

An interesting quote......

"The dog continued to bite because the suspect struggled"......or something along those lines.

As if any human or any other species would just remain calm while being attacked by any animal!

I don't really care what happened to this individual who was smashing the bus window with his skateboard, but that quote from the police. Wow!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And another one

In regards to the recent story about the mother with 2 children in her car that overturned in a ditch in Tsawwassen and her son flagged down a passing motorist who happened to be a off duty RCMP officer.....

I believe he said something along the lines of ....."I did what any off duty officer would do"....

So does he think no one else other than a police officer would pull over and help a child on the side of a road?!? Then upon the off duty officer seeing the child pointing to his mommies car, the off duty officer goes and assists the lady driver of the car get her other stranded child in the car....

Sounds like something most ohhhhhhhh ANYONE would do!

They really think they are something special don't they?
Speaking as a Yeoman of England . . . we do not need to brag because, we've done it all, we who are truly British. . . . Take a look around the world and, where ever the Brits went, life improved. English is the business language of the world. If it weren't for the Brits, many of you would still be living in a shack or worse. Consider the likes of Hong Kong and other places that prospered to become financial power centres they are today . . . and ONLY because of the Brits.

Consider the physical size of England in relation to many other countries England invaded and brought into the Commonwealth. They managed to do so, simply because of the strength of the British forces; and how did that come about? Discipline people, discipline. Unlike U.S. soldiers who tend to argue with their NCO's and Officers, showing not only a lack of respect but also the lack of discipline that would make the difference between winning and losing. Watch any US war movie to understand what I refer to . . . True Brits, will follow their leaders and fight to the finish. Yes, tradition and discipline made the British soldier what he is.

Consider also, the military forces of India, Pakistan, and many middle east countries . . . notice the British influence? You should, because it's very obvious they received British training. Not only that, but since becoming independent of England, they have opted to maintain those British standards . . . I wonder why? - Another thought . . . what sport do they all follow in India and Pakistan? - why Cricket of course. What could be more British than that? Yes, Britain has had a lot of influence on many countries, and usually for the better.

My advice to you . . . don't count us out yet because, we can still give a bloody good account of ourselves regardless of what you may think you know. Just remember this, over a great many decades, England has lost very few battles.

I quote the wordsa of a traditional British song:

Who were the Yeomen - the Yeomen of England?
The free-men were the Yeomen, the free-men of England!
Stout were the bows they bore, when they went out to war, -
Stouter their courage for the honour of old England.
And Spaniards and Dutchmen, and Frenchmen and such men,
As foe-men did curse them, the Bow-men of England!
No other land could nurse them, but their Mother-land, old England!
And on her broad bosom did they ever thrive!

God Save the Queen!

I kicked him to the curb!...Now all this time he has been saying shes just a whore that hes having sex with...but today says "oh did I forget to tell you I committed to her a few weeks ago...but don't get upset I always want to be friends with you and see you when I can....weve NEVER stopped talking and even meet for coffee and gift exchanges. And no I dont want him back and we dont have sex...hes screwing a whore (really) so no diseases for me thank you.He says she is super jealous and doesn't trust him cause hes a cheater.Which is also a shock as he swore this whole time he never cheated...they didnt have sex until later(never believed that)So truth comes out when you forget what youve said...lol OK so I wanted to stay friends thinking he was just having sex but now ..knowing that they are a couple ... is REALLY killing me...shouldn't but.... I guess just wanted to say it out loud to see how stupid I am,but all those years of being his friend and lover and talking every day is hard to stop...and of course I still care!

Why is it every thing canadian tire puts on sale, does not hold up close to what the item is ment to do.

My list can go on and on.

Bought 10 flash lights, nice led rechargable units reg. $29 they had them on for $15.. Two never even worked out of the package the rest don't even last a few minutes now . at first you were lucky to get 10 minutes out of them. The wife uses them when taking out the dog at night, and our convesation is always back to these shity lights . A few months latter a better looking light goes on sale, looks better and improved they are on sale for half price agian. Give these a shot no better dead in minutes.

They had this hand cleaner that you sprayed in your hands and rubbed of the grease on your hands. This shit made it so the grease wouldn't come of my hands. Nothing could clen my hands once this stuff coated them, I had black hands all week. It was a joke, something that did the opposite to what it was ment to do. Again the stuff was only $2.99 reg. $4.99 so I picked up 6 cans

It's a new world order. Let the fear in. You have no choice. You're history is bad. You're culture is wrong. Family values were good but the old ways are bad. The people behind the systems and instruments of control aren't to blame, it's the symbols and institutions themselves that are evil, besides mabey one leader. No one can contribute to the staus quo, but through voting or protesting. Only one nation gets to be a religious nation of racial segregation, SAYS AMERICA!

For most, ignorance IS bliss, that's why some were made to shepherd the many. The real war is a religious war that has been waging since the beginning of the adamic(caucasian/israelite) race to deny them their destiny by way of the babylonian religions but while keeping all that submit so that their gifts as leaders can be used to rule the earth.

RE: Taxes, taxes and more taxes

You are an idiot, its not the stores problem we are broke, its our wonderful government who can't stop getting into our pockets. Every year they want more and more and more, government employee's want raises and go on strike yet the general public hasn't had one in years, fucking ass clown BC Hydro spends billions on smart meters when that money could have paid of loans, bridges, road work etc but nooooooo, they can't help themselves. Lets not even talk about government pension plans. Goverment also loves to let big corporations figure out tax loopholes so we end up giving them money when their USA counterpart made 10 billion dollars, free health care and money packages to Immigrants, the list is truly endles. Things have to change or we are going to end up like Greece and soon.

Your deal only penalizes the working stiff and doesn't affect the government one bit, except they lose revenue so guess what, they simply find another way to get it.

You drooled-

The best way to put a stop to this bullshit is to stop buying stuff. I don't even think it would take very long. Maybe a month?

If all consumers in the country just went to work, went home, and saved their money in the bank (or under their mattress) for ONE MONTH, I bet that would wake the government and their corporate masters up really quick.

But no, 99% of people are just weak. They can't be without their entertainment and toys.

You know what? I do this sort of thing all the time. If I want to save up for something, I just live like a hermit for a few months. It's amazing how much you can save by not buying stupid stuff. The food I eat during these times is probably healthier too! Things like brown rice, a bit of meat, and some vegetables. Yes, it's boring, but then I log into my bank account and it seems a lot less boring.

Usually by the time I've reached my savings goal, whatever I was saving for seems kinda pointless, so then I just keep the money! It's great.

The problem is, most consumers are heavily in debt. They can't save any money because it is all spoken for months before they earn it. You want to send a message? Control your spending. Pay off your credit cards or line of credit. It won't be fun or easy. It will be miserable and boring, but keep yourself focused on the goal. Believe me, it's well worth it.

I became debt free in 2008 by simply stopping all useless spending. I have never carried a credit card balance longer than one paycheque since then (2 weeks). It is such a good feeling to just stop consuming junk and start saving money. It's amazing how fast you can save money once you have no debt. Saved money builds up faster than paying down debt because you're earing interest instead of paying it.

Anyway, back to the point, just stop spending money on junk that you don't need. Look at all these retail stores full of toys, and they're full of shoppers too! If everyone in the whole country just said "We're not going to take it anymore" and bought only food, and only cheap food (not processed crap in nice boxes), and paid their rent/mortgage, and NOTHING else, what would happen to all the useless stores like Best Buy and Future Shit? Clothing stores too... You can go for a few months without buying any new clothes. When nearly ALL the stores in Canada, except basic food stores, suddenly have zero cash flow, something is going to change, and quickly. I actually live like this now, so don't tell me it can't be done. I'm perfectly happy too. You find other ways to entertain yourself without spending money.

...but this will never happen because most people are stupid and weak. Go to any mall. See the hoards of vacant zombies wandering around with armloads of useless crap that they're going to spend their future earnings on (because they're in debt...statistically almost everyone in Canada is). Do you think these people have the self-control necessary to stop the madness? No way. They will just keep on spending, and bitching, and moaning, and wondering where their money went.

Spending money makes me feel dirty... The thought makes my skin crawl....but damn it feels good to know that I could just walk away from my job right this second. I wouldn't need another job for about three years if I walked out the door right now. But I won't, because I'm happy.... Work is a lot easier to stomach when you see your bank account going up and up every two weeks.

Try it. Tell me it wasn't worth it...
What an incredible dissapointment!

Their "Latte or Cappucino" is powdered something mixed with hot water.

As for their regular coffee, the only resaon people like it so much is because they use whipping cream for milk. It has an incredibly high fat and sugar content.

Try drinking it black and tell me how you like it; it's OK, but not great.
What a joke.

RE: Benjamin Franklin (religion)

I am 100% atheist. This sounds like all religions to me no matter how much each sector denies it. The only religion in my "atheist head"...(if it is a religion?) ..... that I have not heard of trying to manipulate, brainwash or what have you is Buddhism. I've not heard of them bothering no one. All the other ones are just lead by people like David Koresh.

Point to ponder.......do religious people of today ever stop to think about how .... say the Romans or Egyptians about 2000 years ago worshipped certain gods which they believed were the bright lights in the sky? As we have learned thanks to Science these are simply stars or big rocks in space. So to worship them as we have learnt seems quite ridiculous. Science though has proven posthumously to the ancients that they were indeed "wrong" about their gods. In the near future our children will most likely look back to our generation and say "the religious people of 2012 were wrong in there beliefs" as I'm quite sure Science will show. We (me and you) won't be around to know hear this though.

Religion changes over time. It has to as Science is constantly progressing and making discoveries. Science does make some miscalculations once in a while but in the end these are corrected, even if it takes hundreds of years. Religion never corrects Science....Science corrects Science.........Science does correct religion.

Is anyone out there sick of hearing all sorts of people talk about how hard they work? "Oh, I've just been working hard!"

People who work with no roof over there head and have to physically lift or carry supplies all the time sounds hard to me....does it not?

People who have to bend over all day or reach down (ex. like all the Indians working hard on the farms during berry season) sounds and looks like it could be hard.....does it not?

Now.....

People who use there brain for work.......I understand it can be mentally tiring but it sure doesn't sound hard to me!

Sitting in a vehicle and driving all day ..... like a truck driver or police or whatever sure don't sound to hard to me!

Is a politician a hard worker? I sure don't think so!

The more I look around the hard working individuals are all the people who have jobs that are low paying. (ex. waiter/waitress, laborer, etc....)

Admit it! Most of us are anything but hard workers and let's give credit to the people who truly are hard workers you lazy dogs!

Wow! - Do some of you people ever listen to a news report? The unfortunate pilot was a civillian NOT a cop and the chopper was referred to as "Air 6" - so is that the numerical designation of a mixed fleet of aircraft, or the number of choppers? I suspect it's the former . But I do believe the cops have more than 1 chopper.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Feel very sorry for the pilots family but what was the idiot doing flying in such poor conditions?/
So true about peace and quiet at night in Surrey
( At least until we taxpayers cough up for another expensive toy for the boys)

They were cops first then got their commercial helicopter license, thus the lack of experience. And I believe there were two helicopters flying around. Insurance will replace this one.

I am at a crossroads and am not sure what to do!I fell in love, had the most amazing sex,and thought I had found the one and proposed. The sex was great because of the intimacy attached. We married and slowly the intimacy disappeared. We had a child and I was very happy and still all in.I believed!I slowly began to realize she was not always there for some of our childs mildtones.I opened my eyes and saw what was previousley unimagined.I learned the next few years she has been unfaithful from the start.Different things friends had said in the past now made perfect sense.
What a blind fool I have been.
I choose to stay, believe in what I had felt, and try to fix things.
Things did get better, she was not as obvious about it,she made more of an effort to hide it!A little respect for me???
I know it and she knows I know.I understand she doesn't do it to hurt me but???
I can't let it go!
We have no intimacy now,she will not have sex/love be intamate with me and blames the lack of intimacy on me.
I found out she was probably sexually abused when she was young and I figured over time she would trust me and know I would be there for the long haul. That was many years ago before our child was born.
Our child is 7 now.I am 45 and we have been together 18 years.
She has made no effort to explain things, try to fix anything between us.
I can't hang on forever?
I will love her forever, but I am starting to believe it would be better for my child and me to leave.
Two parents separated happier would be better than us together.
Any advice male or female would be appricieated!

I'll tell you exactly what I think. - Americans have done such a terrible job of choosing and electing their Presidents over the past 20 - 30 years that I believe Canada should take control of the situation and run your elections for you.

Futhermore, I also believe Canadians should have a vote in your elections because whatever the outcome, US politics have a vast effect on our lives too. Yes, I certainly do believe Canadians can do a far better job of running your elections than what you have done for yourselves of recent times.

All those in favour of Canada overseeing USA elections raise your right hand please. - Carried unanimously! - I'll start the process immediately. We'll send representatives to each and every state to train you how our system works. All voting boxes will be brought back to Canada for official counting and no results will be reported until all vote are in and counted. We will then announce the winner from Canada.

NOTE: - In the event of a "tie" - Canada will cast the deciding vote. - End of problem.

I find it strange that you know so little about your own country and government.

Before bush was president the united states had a surplus of money and bush single handedly wiped out the surplus and increased the national debt to $10 trillion, paying for pretty much trying to steal another countries oil. Obama or any other president of the united states will have to spend probably double that just to fix, what he fucked up. Bush as well made Americans hated by pretty much every other country in the world. Have fun trying to travel any where over seas now, as most people over there will literally spit at or on you.

Been with my girlfriend for 19 years, she never lived with me but she brought dinners over most nights and did the books, I paid her 400 for that plus probably another 1000 a month on whatever she wanted, plus trips down to warm places everywinter etc....I own a trades company and 3 years agi I fell through the roof of a building where there was some rot that could not be seen, was off work but the guys worked wwhile I got a new hip put it...in no time I was back at work and lately I been working but work has been slow so I got the guys to do most of it, then over Christmas I took my dog for a walk and the dog 90 pounds went running back behind me and I had been standing in the same place for about 5 minutes watching the dog play, then he ran around behind me and I didn't realize there was mud under the grass and my feet had sunk into the mud about three inched up onto my work boots.......well I couldn't move my feet and by the time I relaized it I was going straight over backwards, the first thing I felt was my ankle snap and then I felt my hip implant do kind of a weird twist and pop....anyways, some people loaded me and the dog into thrie van and they drove me home to get rid of the dog....I phone the woman, who hasn't worked in 19 years and has lived like a queen with so many clothes and just literally everything she would want in life....she starts screaming at me, how could you do thisw, you seem to be getting hurt all the time, I'm fucking leaving you I can't take it no more....first off, I'm just past 55, I weigh about 250 and am not fat , can bench 205 and love weight lifting, maybe the heavy upper bod is making me less balanced as I get older, I dunno, but after all I have done for her, not to mention I raised her kids and bought her a chihuaua and most recently a pure bred Japenese Chin.

What do you think, she didn't have the great body or anything like that, I just didn't want to say goodbye after I got to know her too well so I just left it the way it was....but this has been the straw that broke the camels back......anyone think I should try to keep doing this, I think I give when there should be no more to give....I am hurt and don't want no more hurt....maybe let it die down and look for another one in a year or so......it's been 19 years since I looked for a woman, I don't think I know anymore, sure don't want to give it all away again anyways...in the beginning I didn't give it all away because honestly I didn't have a lot in the beginning, I worked so flipping hard to make it though and in the end there was not that mush left as she was a mall doll, every day..........maybe give it time to heal or plunge head first into another one that probably would finish me off,eh..I dunno
