Must have a vehicle in safe working condition.
Tutoring schedules and locations catered to the tutor and clients needs (i.e. in the local library, private study room, student's school, students home); tutor may be required to transport their clients to/from tutoring locations.
Clean criminal record check required.
POPULATION:
-Youth ages 13-19 in foster care and/or adults in assisted living.
-Exceptionalities include, but not limited to: FASD (Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder), ADHD, behavioral difficulties, mental illnesses, cognitive and other learning impairments; Thus, tutoring subjects and level of academic functioning vary depending on the individual client.
-Most clients enrolled in alternative programs, mainstream schools, or adult education centres.
-Large aboriginal population
DUTIES:
Provide 1:1 tutoring services to our youth
Provide monthly summary reports
Maintain close contact with all related parties (including but not limited to Education Coordinator, Foster Parents, and schools)
Coordinate tutoring schedules
All time spent with clients to be recorded on our internet database
The most important aspect is to establish a relationship with the youth--all learning outcomes will follow from there.
$30/hour
