Title: Practical Nursing Classroom Instructors
Terms of Employment: Part time & Full time Contracts Available (Monday – Friday).
Salary: Based on Stenberg College’s Instructor Advancement Matrix
Anticipated Dates: Ongoing dates throughout 2010 - 2011
Location: Stenberg College Surrey Campus – Central City Tower (13450 102nd Ave.)
Education: Completion of, or working towards completion of a B. Sc in General Nursing and/or equivalent education and experience, i.e. RN with 10 years experience. Some LPN’s can be utilized in certain courses and for community placement practicum monitoring.
Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.): Current registration with the RNABC or CLPNBC
Experience: 5 years minimum experience as an RN/LPN
Languages: Speak English, Read English, Write English
Work Setting: Classroom 1:24 ratio
Area of Instruction: Nursing Care Skills, Physical Assessments, Prepare & Organize a Nursing Care Plan, Dressings, Catherization, Provide Ostomy Care, Blood Glucose Monitoring, Tube Feedings Administration, Vital Signs, Dispense Medications, Subcutaneous and intermuscular injections, and much more (theory & nursing philosophy foundational courses.)
Specific Skills: Lead discussion groups and seminars, Train, supervise and evaluate students in theory & clinical applications, Practical experience related to area of instruction. Previous teaching skills are an asset.
Additional Skills: Prepare monitoring/student reports, Provide ongoing student feedback
Teaching Format: Classroom format – 6 hours of delivery per day.
