Terms of Employment: Part time contract (Health Records – 4 week blocks of 3 days per week for 5 hours per day
Salary: To be Negotiated
Anticipated Start Date: December 14/09 (Monday, Wednesday, Friday 8:00 am – 1:00 pm for 4 weeks) & July 10/09 (Monday, Wednesday, Friday 8:00 am – 1:00 pm for 4 weeks) December 13/10 (Monday, Wednesday, Friday 8:00 am – 1:00 pm for 4 weeks)
Location: Surrey Campus – Central City Tower

Skill Requirements:
Education: Completion of college/CEGEP/vocational or technical training
Credentials (certificates, licenses, memberships, courses, etc.): Industry required certification
Experience: 6 - 9 years as a Health Records Clerk (Supervisory/Management experience an asset)
Languages: Speak English, Read English, Write English
Work Setting: Private Post Secondary Institute – College Classroom
Specific Skills: Prepare teaching materials according to the published course syllabi, Prepare, administer and mark tests and papers to evaluate students' progress, Deliver lectures and presentations, Lead discussion groups and simulated workplace demonstrations as well as practice sessions, Use of Power point, Prepare grade submissions, Provide ongoing feedback.
Ability to Supervise: 16-20 students, Working groups, Committees

Other:
Health Records Course – Must be skilled enough to teach the following:
• Orientation to the Canadian Health Care system
• Filing systems and storage
• Chart retrieval for various departments. Tracking systems and chart locators.
• Assembly of charts, various charts usage
• Sorting of loose parts from other departments, i.e. diagnostic imaging reports
• Filing emergency and outpatients admissions
• Strategies for searching for charts
• Record maintenance procedures, i.e. moving/purging records
• General Office duties – phone, fax, mail inquiries
• Quantitative Analysis
• Medi-tech and EMR software training
• Critical thinking skills
