The IBO Home Living Show will feature a trade show and educational forum for people to learn about investing, buying and owning homes.  There will be keynote speakers, Quick Tip Seminars and approximately 20 vendors to provide information, program options and answers on everything to do with home purchases, sales and renovations.  <br>

- 40 or more volunteers (in each city)<br>

- Sunday, May 27, 2012 at Vancouver International Airport, FedEx Apron located at 3151 Aylmer Rd., in Richmond, British Columbia<br>

Duties will include but are not limited to the following:  <br>
<br>
- Volunteer Photographers to capture event images; <br>
- Volunteer fitness trainers to conduct a five (5) minute participant warm-up; <br>
- Volunteer face painters, henna artists, dancers, musicians etc., to kick off event 'opening ceremonies'; <br>
- Volunteers to assist with event area set up and tear down;  <br>
- Parking Area Volunteers to guide guests to event area; <br>
- Registration Volunteers to register guests, collect participants packets/pledges and distribute event bags; <br>
- Entertainment Volunteers to manage various activities;  <br>
- Food and Beverage Volunteers to sell refreshments; <br>
- ORBIS Booth Volunteers to sell merchandise; <br>
- and Event Area Volunteers to manage teams and competition logistics.   <br>

<br>Would you like to volunteer in a program where you will make a difference? </font>

<p>
The Rogers Connections Program (RCP) is a partnership program with RYSA and Rogers Communications.  The program works with the school district, counselors, community agencies, RYSA and other service providers. We aim to ensure youth and families are supported to receive or access resources and assistance they require promoting success at school and at home, skill building and be involved with the local community.
<p>
<b><u>Services Include: </b></u>
<br>
<br>•	Assistance with school issues or challenges;
<br>•	Assistance accessing services and supports in the community to meet individual/family needs;
<br>•	Goal setting and mentoring; 
<br>•	Provide workshops and field-trips to connect youth with the local community;
<br>•	Skill building activities.
<p>
<b><u>Duties for Mentors: </b></u>
<br>
<br>•	Provide 1 on 1 academic and non-academic support for secondary school students;
<br>•	Support students to overcome challenges;
<br>•	Create a supportive and encouraging environment where youth can connect and learn;
<br>•	Engage youth in creative problem solving;
<br>•	Provide feedback on how youth are doing and the program as a whole.
<p>
<b><u>Qualifications & Requirements:</b></u>
<br>
<br>•	Can be one of the following: currently enrolled in Post-Secondary education concentrating in teaching or social services or retired teacher, community worker or social service professional
<br>•	Proven academic confidence and ability to engage and connect with youth;
<br>•	Strong oral and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills;
<br>•	Strong time management and organizational skills;
<br>•	Flexibility and able to lead activities and explain things to diverse youth;
<br>•	Able to commit at least 4 months from Jan 10, 2012 -- June 7, 2012
<br>•	Able to commit at least 1 day (3 hours/day) per week 
<br>•	Complete required orientation and training
<p>
<b><u>Application Process:</b></u>
<br>
<br>•	Submit application materials and information to the program
<br>•	Participate in a short screening interview
<br>•	Provide three character references and a successful criminal record check BEFORE beginning work wit1008h the youth.

Session times are from 3:30pm-5:30pm on Mondays and Wednesdays. RYSA will provide a series of mandatory tutoring training sessions throughout the year, the first training session will be held on December 19 from 3:00 - 4:00 pm at RYSA.

<description><![CDATA[West Coast Area (Vancouver, Burnaby, New Westminster, Ladner, Tsawwassen, and North Delta) is looking for energetic, fun-loving women (19+) to be leaders and mentors in one of our many units. Meetings are 1-3 hours a week on various nights of the week. Some planning may be required at certain times of the year as well as the completion of two training modules. <br>
<br>
Girl Guides of Canada-Guides du Canada, the organization of choice for girls and women, makes a positive difference in the life of every girl and woman who experiences Guiding, so she can contribute responsibly to her communities. The program focuses on variety of items including community life skills, personal development, and camping and outdoors. <br>
<br>
Our unit levels are Sparks (age 5 and 6), Brownies (age 7 and 8), and Guides (ages 9 to 11), Pathfinders (age 12 to 15) and Rangers (ages 15 to 17+). Women, aged 18+, who are unable to commit to a unit can still be a part of Girl Guides of Canada through LINK and Trefoil. <br>

Are you willing to work independently, with support at times, and able to handle routine administrative tasks? <br>

If you satisfy the following criteria, you are eligible to start immediately, so double check, as you know your schedule:<br>
<br>
(1) You are available from Monday - Friday at 9 am - 6 pm (with morning/afternoon breaks, and lunch time) for this month (and onwards, possibly), and able to be punctual (i.e., not late) as much as possible.  If you are available at least three days in a week, indicate that as well, and you will be shortlisted.<br>
(2) You are willing to try different tasks in an office environment, support and training (as applicable) provided<br>
(3) You have an updated resume, showing your previous volunteer and/or work experience, education level, language and computer skills, etc<br>
(4) You are able to communicate in English, and able to write neatly (i.e,. legible - as long as it can be read by the average person)<br>
(5) You are willing to commute to Richmond, and understand that this is a voluntary opportunity, with no remuneration or compensation.  In return, you will gain some valuable experience.  Thank you.<br>
