Responsibilities include but are not limited to: research, prototype development, formulation, testing, documentation, test runs, process evaluation, record keeping, lab maintenance and project management.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Formulate new products to client product specifications, dosage form, label claim, applicable regulations and manufacturing capabilities.
• Work and coordinate with sales department and client to establish requirements in the formulation of new products.
• Create a Master formula for the new product.
• Coordinate raw materials sourcing with the Purchasing Department, provide specifications, ensure accuracy and quality of materials sourced.
• Perform trial runs as part of product development and formulation.
• Establish formula, physical parameters, specifications, manufacturing requirements and procedures for new product based on trial runs.
• Develop SOP's for new processes.
• Establish references for existing & new raw material specifications, including: sourcing, inspection and product development based on physical characteristics (e.g. density, particle size, color, taste).
• Coordinate and perform physical testing on raw materials & finished products, including: determination of bulk density, particle size and sensory characteristics.
• Calculate and prepare Nutritional Profile Sheets, Nutritional Fact Boxes and Amino Acid Profiles for labeling purposes.
• Monitor initial batches of new product, validate formulation, manufacturing procedures and the specifications established based on test runs.
• Identify, solve and propose corrective measures for issues encountered during production.
• Review changes on Master Formula.
• Develop and maintain relevant informational databases to assist in product development.
• Stay current with recent development, innovations and technologies that may improve products and manufacturing process
• Research and stay up to date with new innovative products.
• Work with suppliers and stay updated on new materials.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• A Degree in Applied Science (Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology)
• 5 Years experience in nutritional products and or food industry
• 2 Years experience in Formulation/Product Development at a Supervisory level
• Familiar with Food and Natural Health Product regulations
• Experience in GMP, BOM's, SOP's
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Superior planning, organization and time management
• MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Management skills

Troubleshoot and solve problems
• Assist with QA program development, audits and customer requests
