Are you registered for the Vancouver 2012 Tough Mudder on June 23rd-24th? Thinking about entering? Rocky Point CrossFit in Coquitlam is running a 16-week Tough Mudder training camp starting on 11-Mar-12.

Read below to find out how and why and how you need to be training hard for this race.

What is the Tough Mudder?
The Tough Mudder� is a 16-20 km obstacle race that bills itself as the "probably the toughest event on the planet" and is seeking to dethrone the Ironman Triathlon as the preeminent brand in endurance sports.

The Tough Mudder delivers on its promise, and casually states that 25% of all participants fail to complete the course. If you don't have a bullet-proof training program, there is a good chance that you will be one of them.

Rocky Point CrossFit Tough Mudder Training Camp
The Rocky Point CrossFit Tough Mudder Training Program is based on the CrossFit methodology of constantly varied, high intensity, functional movements. CrossFit programming is adapted to the specific demands of the Tough Mudder by adding more endurance training on varied terrain, and additional speed/interval sessions.

The program is 16-weeks in total, with 12 weekend group sessions on Sunday mornings at our facility. The weekend sessions will vary in duration from 1-2 hours, getting progressively more difficult as the program progresses. In addition, each person will be given a home program to complete on their own time, for an additional 4 days per week.

The Rocky Point coaching staff will send out weekly announcements and training articles to the group, with training information and other fitness topics of interests such as workout recovery, nutrition, and flexibility/mobility. This is a program where we not only want to see you ahchieve your fitness goala and perform well in the Tough Mudder, but we want to teach you about overall health, wellness, and fitness.

Who Can Participate
Anybody who is interested in taking part in the Tough Mudder and is interested in improving their health and fitness can participate! Your previous athletic experience and current fitness level does not matter, we can scale the workouts to your level of ability and program them to ensure you get them most benefit from the program as possible.

Cost and Schedule
The program cost is $200/ea for individuals and $175/ea for groups of 3 or more. With 18 hours of in-person coaching, this works out to approximately $10/person for each hour. The program begins on 11-Mar-12. A detailed training schedule will be made available to participants upon registration.
