As a Mad Science Instructor you will be responsible for facilitating a one-hour
after-school science program with a pre-set curriculum. Each session is a very high energy,

As an instructor you will be assigned to 2 or more events per week.
Each class will take approximately 1.5 hours to complete as you are required to be on-site 15 minutes

safely to parents and to clean up.
ABOUT THE PAY - The presenter/entertainer/instructor position for Mad Science
is a very part-time job. Mad Science pays a flat-fee of $25 per one-hour class.
Mileage reimbursement is available. If you are inclined to present to LARGE groups
then there will be a higher flat fee paid, based on the event.
ABOUT TRAVEL - Mad Science classes are held on-campus at various schools

For Week 1 of the Spring Break camp, we would like to offer a range of arts and activities in the morning or afternoon, and a range of science activities in the other half of the day.
Example
Week 2 of the camp, which is already scheduled, will produce a claymation project for YouTube at the end of the week (mornings), and Lego Star Wars animations for YouTube in the afternoon. Each day different art activities will interconnect to create a larger project.
Day 1: Claymation: make a clay character, do a test animation
Day 2: Painting: do some painting activities, paint a background for the claymation
Day 3: Sculpting: practice clay sculpting techniques, make characters for the big project
Day 4: Comics: Make a comic based on your characters (used in the title sequences of the final animation)
Day 5: Claymation: make a final stop-motion animation, record voices
The week doesn't have to be so interconnected, days can be more independent of each other, but we're looking for a variety of activites. Also, some students may be signed up for just a day or two (we allow drop-ins), so they have to have something to take home at the end of the day, if they are not there for the full week.
The Science class doesn't have to be interconnected at all, but hey, it's up to you, the program-designer.
Qualifications
