LABORATORY ANALYST -- AN2<br>
Trace Organics -- GC Team<br>
1 Year Term<br>
<br>
Location: Environmental Division, Vancouver<br>
<br>
Reports to: Laboratory Supervisor or Team Leader<br>
<br>
Shift: Day Shift, Sunday to Thursday.  Early morning start required of 6:00am to 6:30am for the days of Monday through Thursday.<br>
 <br>
General Accountability:<br>
The Laboratory Analyst, working within the GC team in the Trace Organics Department, will be responsible for the handling of data, batch management, time management, quality control and turnaround time.  The Laboratory Analyst will also use correct methods in accordance with the established procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical quality, and adheres to safe laboratory practices by working in accordance with the ALS Health and Safety Program. <br>
<br>
Specific Responsibilities:<br>
&#61607;	Analysis for semi-volatile and volatile parameters using split/splitless GCFID and Headspace GCFID. <br>
&#61607;	Calculations using ChromPerfect software;<br>
&#61607;	Daily tasks will include GC maintenance and basic troubleshooting;<br>
&#61607;	All AN1 associated duties; <br>
&#61607;	Carry out all required work scheduling and planning activities that includes the use of webview;<br>
&#61607;	Prepare all required reagents, standards, reference materials, etc.;<br>
&#61607;	Carry out all required data processing (i.e. calculations, data review, data entry, archival, etc. including use of ALSTools and Seedpak);<br>
&#61607;	Perform all required quality control procedures;<br>
&#61607;	Carry out all required record-keeping & documentation;<br>
&#61607;	Communicate with the Client Services staff as required;<br>
&#61607;	Conduct work following all required safety protocols;<br>
&#61607;	Deliver accurate results to our clients in a timely manner;<br>
&#61607;	Technical decision making for non-routine, complex analyses or matrices;<br>
&#61607;	Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures; <br>
&#61607;	Other duties as assigned. <br>
<br>
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:<br>
&#61607;	Proven workload management ability; <br>
&#61607;	Able to work under the pressure of high sample volumes and to meet deadlines;<br>
&#61607;	Proficient computer skills including MS Word and MS Excel;<br>
&#61607;	Organized, detail oriented and highly motivated; <br>
&#61607;	Able to work independently; <br>
&#61607;	Strong team playing skills;<br>
&#61607;	Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal);<br>
&#61607;	Solid foundation in quality control understanding and data batch 'troubleshooting' required.<br>

Required Qualifications: <br>
&#61607;	Technical Diploma or Degree in Chemistry, or related discipline;<br>
&#61607;	Experience with GC considered an asset.<br>
&#61607;	OFA certification or willingness to achieve OFA certification an asset.<br>
<br>
Physical Demands: <br>
&#61607;	Ability to lift up to thirty pounds.<br>
&#61607;	Ability to sit or stand for an entire shift.<br>
<br>
