I work in a pet store and i hear many stories of peoples pets getting too big, so they donate them to the vancouver aquarium. I was wondering if anyone knows any details about donating to the vancouver aquarium. I have a turtle that i can no longer care for, and since they can live for over 50 years i thought it would be better if the aquarium cared for her rather than a family that she could outlive. Plus i wouldn't need to worry about her not getting a proper diet, and adequate lighting, etc. I wouldn't know how to go about doing this anyway: who would i talk to, can i phone in or do i have to come in person for an interview or something.
If anyone has ever donated a pet to them or any other trusting company i would like to here about it.

I would really like to have some gift cards from superstore or safeway, a christmas hamper so I have food, I have no food just money for rent. I wish for a christmas tree with lights and presents to go under neath. I am not able to have christmas with out someones help! I am alone no friends I could turn to no family so here I am! I wish I had money for christmas, wouldn't that be nice! I wish the collection agency bugging me would go a way! I would really like a job so I wouldn't be here asking for help I am going back to school as of January as to gain employment, so I am happy about that, as for now I have tried to do what is right and turn my life around and it is hard when you just have your doing it by your self. Perhaps you are the creative thinker that can help me with mine.

Unfortunately, the economy did not help our plans of having a baby, and with only one of us currently working, our situation is tight. Since daycare is expensive, but another income is needed, I am hoping someone has any ideas of a work at home opportunity. Or maybe an out of home baby-friendly job. The other option of course is to have a night job (commencing around 5pm until maybe 11pm) and have hubby take care of baby.

I have numerous skills, and have been concentrating the majority of my talents in hospitality. I am a trained chef, but prefer working closer with the public in a social environment and have worked through serving, front desk and managing positions. I am also very functional at a computer and am literate in both PCs and MACs. I am bright and have an interest in many creative endeavours.

There has to be an opportunity that I am missing when I think of things I could be doing.

This is meant for parents/mothers to be or those that already have a young toddler and are considering placing them for adoption due to personal reasons.

About me: I am single, of asian descent, reasonably well-established unmarried woman in my early 40s considering adoption at this point in my life. Although I am in touch with the government and adoption agency for this purpose but I also wanted to consider Direct placement, hence the reason for my ad. here on Craigslist. If we happen to meet and connect this way, needless to say , we will be going the official route in order for us to make this happen. Why adoption? So far I do not have kids of my own and unfortunately haven't found a partner to start a family with either. So instead of waiting much longer and/or choosing to bring another child into this world naturally , I decided to provide good upbringing and a stable home to someone who was already here instead.

What kind of enviroment/upbringing the child will get - I come from a close knit family, am well-educated and have strong morals and values. So needless to say the child will be raised in a loving home (grandparents, uncles, aunts, nephews) and have a strong upbringing with good education and opportunities to blossom into a vibrant individual.

Who I am looking for -
Age - Infant - 3 years old
Gender - Preferably a girl but not closed to boy
I am not looking for children with medical special needs as I would not be in a position to provide well for them
May not be an Open adoption

The first weeks after giving birth can be overwhelming... We want to hear about your pregnancy and your experiences during the first few weeks after giving birth.

Who is conducting the study?
We are UBC researchers conducting research on women�s health. Dr. Patti Janssen is a nurse and epidemiologist. Dr. Sarah Desmarais is a forensic psychologist.

What is the study about?
We are interested in finding out more about some of the factors that may affect women�s mental health and well-being during the first weeks after giving birth.

Who is funding the study?
The study is funded by the BC Mental Health and Addictions Research Network.

Who can participate?
If you have given birth within the past 3 months, you are eligible to participate in this study.

What is involved?
� You will participate in one interview (~45 minutes).
� The interview will be conducted at a location and time of your choice.
� You will receive $20 for your participation.

Who would know that I participated?
� Your privacy will be maintained at all times.
� We will never share any information you give us with anyone without your permission.

Please help, my daughter needs help this Christmas. Just recieved a new Kidney transplant and is unable to afford or go shopping. She has 2 children. Please email me for more info. Money is extremely tight this year for them as she has to pay for some of her and her son's medication and her transportation since handydart does not see her as an essential service. She goes to VGH regularly for appointments and I have been over from Victoria to help her but I must go back home. She has signed for the Christmas bureau and was told she would be able to pick up a present for each child, I just don't know if she can make it there. Also she has no money for the little things. I have a stick bug enclosure that I made myself (FREE) (2' wide x 2' tall x 1' deep and black, mesh on both sides for easy viewing)
I had 5 stickbugs but my house was too cold and 4 died off
there is 1 left
they are a-sexual so it might reproduce still if the environment is good and warmish
but if not there are also some eggs that might hatch
and if not you can always order them online (cheap)
they make a great classroom pet... watching them grow up and eat (easy to handle)
you feed them once a week if not every 2weeks (depends how many there are)
you feed them blackberry bush or rose bush

To all the people who stopped and helped us clear the giant tree fall that blocked Braid Street at 12:30 last night - THANKS! For those of you that were there - you did something small, but something good. For those of you that missed it - last night at 12:30, the insane winds caused a huge tree branch - about 30 feet long - to fall onto the road, blocking three and a half lanes of traffic, right in front of the storage place. The leaves and smaller branches made it really hard to see where the tire-and-undercarriage-ruining wood was hiding, so if you wanted to go past, you had to use the one far lane, which was almost halfway blocked off.

My husband and I stopped to clear it, but with just the two of us, it would have taken forever - so thank you, taxi-driver guy! And thanks to younger girl with dark hair in a white sweater, and her boyfriend? brother? in a toque. Thanks to the big guy with the dark hair and South Asian guy with the glasses. I know I'm forgetting other people - but I was busy looking at branches, so if I forgot you, I'm sorry. We had four sleepy little kids in the minivan, and you guys pitching in instead of just camping out in your cars made quick work of a big job.

Saima teaches meditation using a combination of techniques. She has been teaching for a few years and has a lot of experience in Yoga. No two classs are the same, however all incorporate breathwork, movement and guided visualization for Chakra clearing.

I've lived in various apartments in the west over the last decade and have NEVER had a problem with bed bugs. That being said, there are some buildings that seem to perpetually have problems, this may be the fault of the landlord for not properly treating the area (you can't only treat the single apartment they're in, you have to do the surrounding apartments and hallways). Or the problems of tenants (people who bring in furniture/bedding from thrift shops or items found outside). Google bed bug registry and it will give you a listing of buildings that have had problems.

I wouldn't rent in the West End. My friend who is the cleanest person you would ever meet (no joke!!) had them. If she had them then that tells you they don't target 'dirty' places. They get dragged in from clothing or the such. I would recommend living in Kits or in lower South Van.

Several years ago, I volunteered past my 1-year committment at the Crisis Centre on Broadway & Fraser. I was hesistant at first 'cause of the committment. It was my first volunteer experience and worked well on my resume. Let me tell you it was one of my best experiences. The training was phenomenal and has helped me in my career well past that time. Also, the staff were very nice and supportive. You will get that $135 back very easily with the training, books, and experience gained.

THIS IS WHAT I NEED HELP WITH, CAN YOU HELP?

HERE IS THE STORY

I was called in to the office, my employer asked for my drivers abstract. I gave the employer my drivers abstract, it stated that I was accident free and that I didn�t have an updated driver�s license. .

Employer said that I wasn�t to drive during work hours and to take the bus. I agreed to take the bus to the different sites. I told the employer that I would go and get my license updated soon as I got a chance.

Couple of days later the employer then asked me to provided my car insurance for what purpose I don�t know, probably to see if I had valid insurance is my only guess. I didn�t drive the company vehicle. By this time I felt that the employer was taking this situation personally, blowing this situation out of proportion. I didn�t feel that I had to show my employer my vehicle insurance since I was no longer driving during work hours.

Couple of days later the employer called me back to the office, informed me that since I didn�t have a updated driver�s license I was dismissed, for just cause. No two week notice or severance pay for being terminated without notice.

*Comment---All the company employees were given a layoff notice about a month and a half go stating that the employees would be laid off in about 3 months.

I now have my driver�s license 2 weeks later.

Is the general layoff notice that everyone received considered valid as a termination notice even though it isn�t a termination notice?

Is not having a driver�s license just cause? Even though I was still doing my duties like always, just taking the bus?

Labour Standards Act won�t say if I was fired for just cause, or if the general layoff notice is valid or not for a termination notice. They just said to do the �Self Help Kit� with my former employer and if that don�t help then get back to them.

I don�t want to cause trouble/problems with the former employer; I just want what is due me for being a faithful and hard working employee who has put in years and done nothing wrong. After all I do have a family to support and bills like everyone else!

Wanted: Chill people to share Whistler condo THIS WEEKEND (Whistler)

Ok, so here's the deal. We rented this sweet condo up in Whistler for the weekend (this weekend!). It sleeps 9 people. We had nine people, but four of them bailed at the last minute! Yeah, we know, our friends are lame flakes.

Here's where you come in.

We're looking for up to four people who are down to have a kick-ass time in Whistler this weekend. We have the condo for Saturday and Sunday nights (Nov. 21/22). The total cost for the condo is $480, split between everyone. If we get even just two more people, the cost is just $35/person/night. The condo is pretty nice too.

Who are we? We're all nice, chill kids in our mid-20's. We intend to have all manner of fun (without destroying the house), even if we don't know what that entails just yet. A few ideas: hiking, sledding, snowboarding, ziplines, checking out the olympic sites, board games, etc. Right now there are three guys and two girls going, driving up from Bellingham on Saturday morning. We're all packing in one car and don't have any extra seats (sorry), so you'll have to drive yourself.
