You are absolutely right, Vancouver is a fucking ugly city. It has pockets of pretty residential areas but it's mostly crappy new buildings in a beauitiful setting. If it wasn't for the surrounding NATURAL scenery the whole city would be considered a post-moderne catastrophe. So many of the great older buildings have been knocked down there's little other than ugly sterile concrete edifices or shitty faux Craftsman-influenced stuccoed monstrosities. Most of Broadway looks like the commercial sprawl of Poco with the same shitty outlet stores.
