What I am looking for is children under or around the age of 5 (older is okay too if need be) to not only watch while you are at work or running errands, but also children that I can teach. I have many educational books, toys, and handmade activities. I can host in my residence or if you are near me I can come to you if you are okay with me bringing my son with me when needed. I had been looking after my senior dad for 32 years before he passed away on Jan.29th 2012
I am 50 years-old, I have a 12 year-old son, and I run a daycare.
My dad was put into a seniors home in 2009 but really, really hated it, so I moved him in with me,
He was a war veteran so he was able to get things like a Carol bed (which is exactly like a hospital bed)
an electric lazy boy chair (so he wouldn't get stuck. a 4-wheel walker and a nice Kain.
I also have a raised toilet seat, as I know the older they get the harder it is to get themselves up, and in the bathtub is a chair so they can shower.
I bathed my dad so I can help if needed. I would like to stay on at this house if I could, so I was hoping to find a senior that is living on their own but finds it
hard to get things done and is'nt ready for a seniors home.

I've been doing daycare in my home now for about fifteen years. I have two kids myself,
but the best birth story I know is the one I heard in my own home from a 7 year-old a few weeks back.
When I was a kid, I loved show-and-tell. So I always have a few sessions in my home for the kids. It helps them get over shyness and usually, show-and-tell
is pretty tame. Kids bring me pet turtles, model airplanes, pictures of fish
they catch, stuff like that. And I never, ever place any boundaries or
limitations on them. If they want to lug it to daycare and talk about it,
they're welcome.
Well, one day this little girl, Erica, a very bright, very outgoing kid,
takes her turn and waddles up to stand beside me the front of the other 2 kids with a pillow
stuffed under her sweater.
She holds up a snapshot of an infant. 'This is Luke, my baby brother, (I knew Luke was on his way)
and I'm going to tell you about his birthday.'
'First, Mom and Dad made him as a symbol of their love, and then Dad
put a seed in my Mom's stomach, and Luke grew in there He ate for nine
months through an umbrella cord.'
She's standing there with her hands on the pillow, and I'm trying not to
laugh and wishing I had a camcorder with me. The kids are watching her
in amazement.
'Then, about two Saturdays ago, my Mom starts saying and going, 'Oh, Oh,
Oh, Oh!' Erica puts a hand behind her back and groans. 'She walked around
the house for, like an hour, 'Oh, oh, oh!' (Now this kid is doing a hysterical
duck walk and groaning.)
'My Dad called the middle wife. She delivers babies, but she doesn't have a
sign on the car like the Domino's man. They got my Mom to lie down in bed
like this.' (Then Erica lies down with her back against the wall.)
'And then, pop! My Mom had this bag of water she kept in there in case he
got thirsty, and it just blew up and spilled all over the bed, like psshhheew!'
(This kid has her legs spread with her little hands miming water flowing away.
It was too much!)
'Then the middle wife starts saying 'push, push,' and 'breathe, breathe.
They started counting, but never even got past ten. Then, all of a sudden,
out comes my brother. He was covered in yucky stuff that they all said it
was from Mom's play-center, so there must be a lot of toys inside there.'
Then Erica stood up, took a big theatrical bow and returned to her seat. I'm
sure I applauded the loudest Ever since then, when it's show-and-tell day,
I make sure I have a camcorder, just in case another 'Middle Wife' comes along.

We are located in Burnaby beside Windsor Elementary School. We are a fully licensed child care facility. We accept childcare subsidies. We welcome 3 to 4 year olds. Must be toilet trained.
Our head teacher has 14 years of experience. Both our teachers have first aid and are CPR certified.
We currently have a few spots in our Tuesday/Thursday class. Our Tuesday/Thursday class is 9:15 to 12:45 pm. This class costs $190/month. Our Tuesday/Thursday class is a great class for your 4 year old getting ready for kindergarten in September.
We have started to accept registrations for September 2012. Our classes in September will be:
Monday/Wednesday/Friday 9:15 - 11:30 am at $150/month.
Monday/Wednesday/Friday 12:15 - 2:30 pm at $150/month.
Tuesday/Thursday 9:15 - 12:45 pm at $190/month.
Come to our open house on February 11 starting at 10 am to 12 pm. You can meet our head teacher, browse the classroom and register at the same time.
We are a Parent Participation Preschool so the parents run the school.
