Business Analysis Manager (Short-term)
Play a key role in business analysis and support for core business systems in a dynamic, evolving IT environment
This short-term opportunity (approx. 8 months) will see you join the Information Technology Department of Corporate Services, where you will be responsible to the Senior Manager, Enterprise Business Systems, for providing business analysis and functional support for the core business systems such as Oracle JD Edwards Enterprise One (JDE1), Siebel – Health Services, Housing Connections (HC), Central Property System (CPS), Emergency Shelter/Outreach (ESO), SAFER/RAP, and Business Intelligence/Data Warehouse (BI).
You will provide application support to users and ensure the effective operation and use of the systems in accomplishing business objectives. Management will rely on your assistance in defining business requirements, leading business process modelling and developing new business processes. Related functions include developing technical specifications and requirements for new reports, systems and enhancements; and ensuring effective liaison with application implementation/development and technical support teams.
Your support will also be required in the development of business cases as well as providing assistance and coordination in chairing project initiation meetings, selecting project members and contractors, and negotiating contracts. You will manage moderate sized projects or portions of larger, more complex projects throughout the project lifecycle, and ensure seamless project implementation. You will also monitor and problem-solve new installations and services, coordinating systems release notes documentation and training programs and conducting post-implementation reviews and performance analyses to assure the quality of the implementation.
An integral part of your role will encompass conducting business process, feasibility, risk assessment, impact and cost-benefit studies to maximize or enhance the utilization of existing IM/IT systems, or assess the need for new systems to improve overall client service delivery and ensure achievement of business objectives. This will include assessing and advising on technological solutions, increased efficiencies and organizational impacts for various systems options including impacts on staffing resources, customer services, capital costs and training/educational requirements.
Your credentials include a recognized degree in Commerce/Business Administration or Information Technology, coupled with 3+ years’ business analysis experience, 5+ years’ IT industry experience specifically focused on IT solutions and services and/or appropriate training/experience. Considerable experience in supporting enterprise-wide business systems is required, as is a broad knowledge of business processes, preferably in a social housing or similar environment that has included finance, procurement, asset maintenance, project development and property management.
Technically, you have extensive knowledge of Oracle technology including databases and middleware; a strong knowledge of IT standards, the system development lifecycle and IT development environments; and are familiar with hardware technologies (servers, workstations, networks and operating systems).
Naturally, strong skills are necessary in business requirements gathering, process modelling and solution architecting, including writing business requirement documents. You also have knowledge of feasibility, risk assessment, impact and cost-benefit analysis techniques and processes. Good project management, leadership and facilitation skills as well as some negotiation and influencing skills are important. Lastly, you enjoy taking ownership of tasks and driving them through to completion.
