Job Purpose:

UniverCity Childcare is SFU Childcare Society's newest project. It is unique in the fact that the UniverCity Childcare will be working in partnership with SFU's Faculty of Education in addition to fulfilling the strategic direction of the SFU Childcare Society. This partnership brings together researchers from the Faculty of Education and Early Childhood Educators from UniverCity Childcare to participate together in the planning and development of a model facility, whose education program will be inspired by the Reggio Emilia programs in Italy. This partnership provides invaluable opportunities for co-constructing knowledge and investigating multiple perspectives.
UniverCity Childcare draws inspiration from British Columbia's Ministry of Education's Early Learning Framework. The Early Learning Framework brings together the voices of BC families, educators, researchers, and postsecondary institutions, as well as pedagogical inspirations from Italy, Ireland, Sweden and New Zealand. This document, together with a commitment to ongoing pedagogical narration, is used to make children's learning visible. A visibility that conveys to others an image of children as capable and full of potential while at the same time deepening an educator's understanding of the teaching and learning processes.

We are seeking an Early Childhood Educator who is passionate, creative, professional, intellectual, and reflective in her/his work with children. UniverCity Childcare's approach to learning and teaching is unique, intentional, and specific, as detailed above.
